x2. I've thought that myself many of times also. Maybe the guys at RL will include this in the design of the Tortoise armor.

funny you should bring this up I have been thinking since getting back from Colorado that the rear end vibration damper could be modifyed to be a skid mount. remove weights ust the bracket to mount a small skid might need to brace out to axles could mount with poly bushings to minimize shock to dif. The weight of the plate might serve as vib damper.

Not too sure if you would want to brace it to the rear axle. If the plate is stationary, and you flex the rear, I am sure something will either twist off or stay twisted. UNLESS, you fab up some kind of flex joint. Then you might be able to do it with out f-ing something up

if you braced it against the axle, it would kind of defeat the purpose. youd want it braced to the frame somewhere i would think. wouldnt that kind of be like attaching your transmission skid to your transmission pan?

All it is for is to protect the driveshaft, u-joint and yoke and allow the diff to slide more easily over obstacles. The only way you are going to do that is to mount it on the diff. The diff is plenty strong to take the abuse w/ the slider attached to it.

you want it mounted to the pumpkin/ diff not to the frame, it has to move with the rear diff

gotcha. i accidentally drove right over a stump right down the center earlier this year cause i wasnt paying attention and it got stuck between my t-case skid and my rear diff off to the left of the driveshaft. ya know, in that perfect little void there that can swallow up a stump and not let it back out. a slider on the rear diff would have helped me out in that situation a lot. i pretty much just could have kept driving. instead, we had to stack some small logs in front of the rear tires and then i just hit the skinny!

Heres another angle of what/how it protects:

I love mine, it slides right over the rocks instead of the diff hanging up or smacking into them.

I need one of those modded Nth degree diff sliders. I wonder if All J will duplicate or mass produce those?

I'm sure they'll do anything you want if you give them enough cash!
