Post subject:  Mild, not wild lift using KK forks/ top double rear isolator

I need close to stock for max MPG's and such. And I simply want to restore to take away that 3/4 to 1 inch squat the NTSB put on all KJ's in 2002 on. I notice at stock the mini drive shafts are angled "up" towards the tires. I simply want this angle to be "flat". I do not want a 2" or 2.5" or higher lift or any thing like that.
Would the following be a good idea:
Front -- Replace to stock KK forks, Nothing else. I understand these clevis forks are 5/8ths" longer than KJ forks
Rear-- Double up upper isolator pads.

Of course bumpstop parts are to be replaced too.

In your KJ experience will this work?

Yes I know I will be doing this on a CRD.

Some folks have been playing around with the KK fork and it sounds like the KK fork is going to give much more lift than you want (if it works at all). Perhaps a small spacer lift will do the trick?

Or we could just do a LOST AZ maintenance get together and do the "clevis lift" on the front and on the rear add two extra upper spring isolators, like you suggested. The isolators were around $20 bucks a set at Bill Luke when I got mine. We could probably coax the clevis up to .75 and add two isolators on each rear spring and that would give you .75 inches in front and and inch out back, plus it would not cost much.

The KK clevis is only 3/8" longer than the Kj one it would give 3/4 " lift if slid it up a little ie 'clevis lift ' you could get another 1/2" they are not cheap I think about $120/pair I got a dealer price from someone who knew the parts guy and paid $75. this lift would be no differnt than a spacer on top of the shock/spring assembly. It would also look stock to a dealer unless the compaired parts #

Yours is a 06 right , for one your suspension is 2 years old, its JUNK to begin with and after that long it needs upgraded,    just do it right and replace the springs with OME medium, which will give you 1.5 inches or so OH wait you have one of those CRDs I would still replace the springs with the CRD OMEs
Using the KK clevis is only a BAND AID FIX nothing else, you need to replace the springs/shocks
DO IT RIGHT or don't it at all

The CRD OME lift would be the best way to spend your money...

Better Ride
Front shafts basically level
Correct Struts and Shocks to go with the lift
New Springs all the way around with the correct (better weight rating)
Will allow you to fit 235/75/16' (30" tires) with no rubbing issues
Be careful with changing to KK parts...the CRD front diff is lower than the 3.7L, which is a good thing for angles, BUT the driver's side front axle is significantly shorter which limits room to work with...

OME is best -
but if all you want is 3/8" - try a Clevis lift - loosen the bolts- slide the strut up - tighten bolts
(slide up is not easy)

some people put in conduit nuts - but those are just for measurement - it's held in position by the bolt torque

You didn't mention what type of driving this KJ will see...and what you're willing to spend.

If you plan on some off-roading with your KJ, go with some aftermarket springs and struts to lift it. Or spend $1000 and get the best Frankenlift.

If you just want the lift for a mostly street driver, with a little mild trail driving, save your money and do a clevis lift or add some spacers on top of the strut...about 1/2" of spacer will give you 1" of lift due to the geometry of the IFS. You MUST install extended bumstops or your struts will bottom out, damaging them. (I've got 9k miles on my OTT lift with extended bumpstops and have had NO probs)

I have a set of Daystar bumpstops that will work well with just an inch of lift. PM me if you want to buy them. I ended up getting TerraFlex bumpstops since they're taller than the Daystars...better for a 2-3" lift.
