Alright. Stupid question. Can one drive without power steering?? I've received mixed answers from a number of people.

Secondly, does driving without power steering put any sort of stress, possibly leading to damage, on any other components??

My power steering pump seems to be on the fritz, not sure I'm gonna be able to replace it right away. Typical poor college student here.

Im sure you could..a bit tough on the arms and may be a safety issue if you need to make a quick exit with the steering. also keep in mind that the steering rack needs fluid long term exposure to non preasurized fluid will damge components

no I would not drive it without the pump working, first where are going to get a belt to fit without it, and it would be hard on the system for sure, so do not drive it

You will overheat the P/S and it will lock up breaking the serp belt and then you loose everything, cooling and alternator.$130 for a new P/S and less then 30 min to change it out yourself, not expensive at all.

Do NOT drive without power steering, point taken.

Certainly not gonna try it, the consequences sound pretty scary.

without the power steering pump working you would also be putting a lot of pressure on the steering rack (not an easy replacement)... so def dont drive it!

I can't imagine driving a large vehicle w/out power steering  I'd just drive around town instead of going to the gym.

I still remember my buddies old festiva w/ no power steering. lol. You could sneeze in that car and roll it.

I drove a '65 Ford Galaxy V8 3 speed on the Tree ,go ask your dad about 3 on the tree
NO power breaks ,and Drums at all 4 corners
NO power steering
The only electrical was the lights
And this thing was HUGE ,would mow down a KJ and only have minor scratches

Try a 24,000lbs Duece-in-a-half,the older ones with no P/S,then load 100 of them on a ship and you have to turn the wheels while stopped then move the truck,oh and the metal flooring has large metal cleats on it also.
