A shift kit will help.

I was told they do not make one for the 4 wheel drive ones is that true? If not who makes the kit?

Apparently Transgo makes a shift kit for the Liberty. Not sure how hard it is to install or how much it costs.

tommudd, was the shift kit hard to install or did you have a shop do it?

If you have the 45RFE transmission, Transgo makes 2 of them. One is about $50 and one is about $100. The one for about $100 is a reprogramming kit and makes a big difference. It's a high performance shift kit. The one for about $50 is a shift correction kit. It won't shift like a sport truck like the other one, but it will help firm up the shifts and make them quicker. They only make a shift correction kit for the 42RLE, but it will help just like the correction kit for the 45RFE. They're not supposed to be too hard for someone skilled to install, but I don't trust myself to work on a transmission. I had my reprogramming kit installed by the same mechanic that did my 4.10 gears and custom torque converter.
