Help...where else can I get skid plates?

I'd like to get the front skid plate (#82210769), the tranny plate (#82210003)and the transfer case plate (#82209455) as well
I can't get it from the dealer cause they can't find any, and the Mopar site pretty much tells me I'm an idiot for living in Canada LOL
Any suggestions?
I know there are tougher skid plates out there but I want to keep the costs down since I don't do any off-roading but if the occasion or itch should arise, keeping in mind we get ALOT of snow up here which almost qualifies as off road, I'll have that bit of protection.

ohhh, and are the 2005s the same as 2004s when it comes to the plates, the numbers above were listed as being for 05s since they only go as far back as 4 years onthe mopar site.

Unfortunately JParts does not ship to Canada. It says that right in the shipping section of the website. They have some great stuff but I have to set up a drop address in Sumas in order to get any of it.

You are pretty much going to have to go to a Chrysler dealer to get all the skid plates. The Canadian dealer pricing back in May 2008 was:

front skid plate (#82210769) $107.00
tranny plate (#82210003) $54.30
transfer case plate (#82209455) $81.24

According to the parts people I have talked to, the skid plates are supposed to fit all years. You may want to call a local dealer just to verify this. They should be able to tell you if you have to drill any new holes and where.

How about finding someone close to the border, on the US side, to take delivery. Drive down, put the plates on and drive back home. What your government doesn't know it don't need to know.

I'm with Terry. Anyone in Vermont or NY that could help him out? Even if it's just as a shipping destination that he could come pick up from.

FYI - one of the other Canadian folks mentioned import taxes ~50% or so - so that might also impact your decisions.

Here is an idea. This winter when you are freezing your behind off order the stuff to be sent to me. Then you can come down here and thaw out in the bright Florida sun!! :lol:

We usually get hosed by the shipping companies for their customs brokerage fees. These are charged by the shipping companies after Canada Customs collects the duty and taxes. I have shipped somethings into Canada where the shipping was very reasonable, but the bill for the brokerage fees was almosy 50% of the product cost.

That is why I made the suggestion of shipping to someone close to the border and driving over and installing it. "Nothing to declair, I just over to visit a friend".

Yea the customs brokerage fee's really stick it to ya. I would love to get an ARB bumper, but shipping and duties put it out of my reach at this point in time. I'll get one at some point, just not right now.

I can 100% verify that there was a difference in the 2003 model and the 2005+ skid plates. I too had to buy the newer ones for mine. EACH plate (Engine, Tranny, and Tcase) needs one hole drilled. The tranny plate shares a hole with the front, otherwise it will need two drilled. All other holes line up. I think that the 2003 and 2004's were the same, so you should see the same issues I had. It's a pretty minor deal to drill the holes. I am still using a stock 05 skid in the front, but upgraded to a Skid Row tranny skid.

Oh, and on the tranny skid, I think I just drilled the hole in the skid (in the back part) instead of the crossmember. This allowed me to use the factory attach point.

I do not know about the gas tank skid. It could be the same for all years. I use a Kilby tank skid.

i ordered the transfer skid and the gas tank skid. i was told the transmission skids up to 07 are discontinued. Does anyone know if the transmission skid from an 08 would work on a kj?

I called the person I deal with at Golden Ears Motors to verify this. The tranny skid (82210003) is for model years 05 through 09 and there is only one left in the Vancouver warehouse right now. It comes with the nutzerts and it will fit the 05s to 07s. I have this exact part number on my 06.
