Post subject:  Daystar lift question

Hi guys,

I just have a quick question. Is the daystar lift for the diesel the same as the lift for the gassers minus the top plates in the front? I was sent the wrong kit but all the instructions look the same and so do the parts. I'd really rather not have to wait on sending this one back and then waiting forever to get a new one. If anyone knows and could drop me a line that would be great. I posted this in the diesel section too but really need a quick answer.

Thanks again,
~Chris

Hiya, no the Diesel version is not the same as the gasser one, the front pucks are not as thick.

It's a 1,5" front and 2" rear lift....

If you now have a kit with topplates you've got the 2,5" kit which is better.

I was going to correct you - but I checked the Daystar web and they agreed with Tony
I'm confused because I ran their 2 1/2" 'non-diesel' lift for about 30k miles before I switched to OME
a pain to assemble - but it worked fine after it was together.

So you think that it will work? We are doing the lift on a lift and it doesn't look like the strut assembly will clear the axle(I guess axle isn't the right word). It's already right against the boot and I really don't want to hurt anything. That and we can't seem to get the spring compressed enough. So if we did get the spring compressed more you are sure that it will work? Sorry for the confusion but I'm just very nervous about breaking things I don't have the money to replace. Thanks again for any insight ... Chris

It was a pain -
I had to go to a shop with a wall mounted spring compressor to install the top plate
and to install the strut assembly
I ended up dropping the lower A arm assembling things and using a floor jack to bolt things together.
but - it fit and everything worked
I also know that All-J's stopped using the spacer on the CRD Frankenlift because too many people tore the CV boot while assembling it - and I understand that - it would be easy to do - so Daystar may have gone with the same advice i.e. less lift for the Diesel.

FYI - in contrast the OME assembly was easy to install and - gave me the same total lift.

Thanks for that info .. I'm doing the work in a shop and we used the wall mount to get the strut assembled back together with the spacer in it. I was just worried because we couldn't see how to get the a arm attached the the assembly without tearing the cv boot. Also it looked like the parts would be very close to touching after it is assembled. Thanks again for the great info.

It is close- be very careful with the boots
but I ran it for 30k miles and 2 trips to Moab - so it does work
