Post subject:  i have a few questions

it's good to have the forum back. i have some questions.

#1. besides a snorkel, what else do i need to do to my jeep to water proof it

#2. short of taking my cats off (which i almost did), how can i make the super 44 and louder? is there any resonators i dont know about?

#3. can i use ome hd springs in the front and keep my rusty's springs in the rear. i have plans to get a arb bumper since my stock one is taking a beating off road.

#4. my driver's side is lower than my passengers side. what could cause this? i think its the front spring but im not sure. do shocks assist the springs in holding the jeep up? if so where can i get some better front struts?

#5 can anyone explain what i need to have a cb radio in my jeep. besides the antenna and the radio.

#6. what do i need to to lift my jeep over 2.5 inches? i know i need longer shocks struts and springs. also i heard the cv's should be replaced with these ( http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-CV_axle_shaf ... e-576.aspx ) and uca's

#1-Need to swap all electrical connectors(the entire vehicle, inside and out) with waterproof connectors, the ones you have now are "weatherproof" and not the same as waterproof.Need to get the modified PCV valve that has a diverter in it with a switch, then run all the vent lines from the diff,t-case,tranny,P/S pump, and all the like to that modifies PCV valve. That modified PCV valve when in normal running will vent all the crankcase pressure and all the other component pressures like normal, flip the switch and it sends all the crankcase pressure to all the components connected to it thus not allowing water to get in.

There is more but above is the most expensive.

#2-No,taking your cats off will cause more issues then leaving them on.

#4-Normal,more weight on the drivers side.

what causes the extra weight? its like and inch difference

I will fill in some since tjkj did such a great job

#3 yes you can do that
#5 CB and a good ant. plus have the ant. tuned to the radio, several places to mount a radio in the front area there, for what you need a smaller unit will be fine with a magnetic mount ant.
#6 is a tricky one in a way, if you want over 2.5 most everyone seems to get more than that from a Frankenlift, then with JBAs arms yuo are good to go. CVs well if you are pushing 4 plus inches then yes but thats a whole lot more dollars.

ms- I wouldn't say that is normal. Shaggyislandboy has the same issue on his CRD. Even after buying a frankenlift which replaced the springs, an struts on both sides it was still uneven on the drivers side by 1 inch. We even did a clevis lift on the drivers side to try and even it up, to no avail.

Im sure he will drop in and give you more info. I thought it might have been in an accident since he bought it used, however the carfax was clear.

We are both clueless at this point. If you figure it out then please let us know. Mine does not show that much difference, only about 1/4" or less lower on the drivers side.

OK you said a few questions, you have passed that amount now   on your buddys depends on what axles he has in his, may or may not work, not all have say 44s like the rubicon

You really need to sit down and think what you want in the end , what all you can do yourself, what you will have to pay someone else to do, etc. SFA no matter how you do it is expensive to do it "right"
4/6 inch lift is bolt in to a point but more to it than just throwing a few things at it and say its good to go

I am lost now in what all you asked...... :? :? :?

do struts help hold the vehicle up?

Author:  Hood297 [ Mon Nov 03, 2008 11:28 pm ]
Post subject:

no. springs hold the weight of the vehicle. struts absorb the upwards and downwards travel so it is smoother and more controlled. with out struts/shocks think of jumping up and down on a coil spring bed...

hood how do you have 3 inchs of lift?

Rough Country 3" lift (STAY AWAY) with CRD springs and Rancho struts.

Post subject:

why crd springs? are they rated to carry more weight?

Author:  Hood297 [ Mon Nov 03, 2008 11:46 pm ]
Post subject:

Yes the CRD engine is much heavier than the 3.7L. and since the addition of the ARB and Warn up front (roughly 150lbs+/-) it helped a great deal with carrying the extra weight. which meant more lift. I never got exact measurements on it before and after the lift, but i would guess a lil less than 3" maybe 2.8 ish
