Ok, I will say up front that I dont know what I am talking about... so I am asking those that do know what they are talking about.

Given that an OME would be ideal, however...

Could I go to the junkyard and take the suspension from a Durango for example and BFH it into the KJ somehow? If not a Durango, some other vehicle like a RAM or Dakota? I'm talking mostly about the springs, would probably go with new shocks and struts. I'm not expecting to be able to do a perfect matchup swap... may have to do some fabbing, but could it be done and if so, what vehicle would you recommend be used for the swap?

Comments? Suggestions??

so you have a great little vehicle that you are paying or have paid out some good money on, then you want to junk it up. Now granted back in the day we had to do all kinds of stupid stuff to get the lifts we wanted but anymore its a phone call away.
Just do it right and be done with it
And,
how much do you waste every month on food, take that money and buy a good lift!

Well considering Durango's/Dakota's/Ram's do not use front coils, they are torsion bar front IFS,your going to be SOL,and they use leaf springs in the back also unless you go very brand new.

Just fork over the $300 for the correct coil springs(OME F/R coils would be about $300) that are made for the KJ,you'll spend more trying to find and jerry-rig the wrong coils to work on a KJ.

I was looking and measuring a commander at work yesterday... the struts appear to be pretty similar but they are longer, and use shorter clevis'. Granted finding a commander in the junk yard weill be hard, commander struts with out clevis' (if my measuring is correct) would give a 3" lift. But i did forget to measure diameter so the clevis' may not be interchangable. Though if ti is, liberties are startign to show in yards aroudn ehre, it'd be an easy lift for a commander.

I am still looking for some cheap stock steel wheels to put my MT/R's on. I just don't see paying shipping when the shipping is more per wheel than the wheel.

If I don't find some soon, I'll just drive to Lancaster & have ORO swap my tires!

( Lancaster was a lot better before the bypass! )

Why not get some Cragars from Summit. Shipping is only $12 for all 4 or 5 wheels combined. The Soft 8's, Black D's, and V-5's are all pretty inexpensive too.

I know there is atleast one liberty in the junkyard with a Frankenlift II premium. It's just a matter of tracking it down.

And was it in Utah and did it still have the bumpers on and do you know the name of the wrecking company that hauled it away and . . . . .

I am thinking of getting a CRD Sport and modding the crap out of it (my wife wants my Limited pretty bad), so a lift and bumpers would be a great find. I have family up there and an uncle in the salvage business so I may be able to track it down (hey, it could happen Image).

SirSam saw it was up for auction earlier this year here in Utah. I highly doubt it left the state because Utah has some funny auction rules. Maybe Sam knows where it ended up. When it was sold at auction it had a CRD Frankenlift Premium II, RL rear bumper, TJM front bumper, and Moab wheels. It was a good looking rig.
