Yeah, I hear ya. I've been saving up for over a year for mine............................It's on order and I hope to have it by the end of December. Expensive, but a dang good bumper.

incubusmike flipped his spare tire carrier and fabbed up a mount that goes behind his spare. Its a pretty sweet set up.

if it was me inside all the time until out on the trail then on the roof rack so I can reach it when I need it
first mud and getting the Hilift wet all the time will make it all rusty and unuseable when you most need it, also who gives a crap what others think, keeping the KJ dirty all the time to me is someone that does not take care of a vehicle. Mine each time its out gets a full power wash top to bottom to make sure nothing is leaking, torn, damaged , dirty you can not see things like that

It works great too. I actually leave the hi lift off if I am going around town, but for when there is a planned run I throw it on and off I go. Quick easy and sturdy. I prefer to have as little weight in or on my KJ while driving around the city and don't care if people think I wheel my KJ or not so I don't worry about leaving it on while on pavement.

I agree the vehicle and its equipment should be taken care of.

I have been looking on the site for the one that somebody, can't remember who, fabs up and sells. It's the one that mounts outside of your spare tire. The mount goes through the center of the spare tire and mounts there, kind of like some of the CB mounts out there.

i do give it a good wash down a few days after a trail ride, i spend a good 30 min just spraying off all the mud and such then once that is done i give it a good full detail wash from top to bottom.

The first time I put mine in the back of my KJ, I notice that it was notched out so that my hi-lift fit perfectly in a groove on each end, laying flat across, all the way to the back. One side is notched wider than the other and it can be lashed down to the floor so it can't go flying around. It fits too perfect not to be designed for this and very easy to get to.

Is that way in the back or under the back seat?

It is mounted all the way in the back. One side of my rear side interior is notched as wide as the foot of the hi-lift and the other side is notched as wide as the top of the hi-lift. If I can figure out how to upload pics, I will.
