READ ALOT OF POSTS AND EVERYONE LOVES AL'S ARMS..SINCE MINE ARE SHOT I WILL BITE THE BULLET ..AND EXTA $$$ TO GET THESE OVER STOCKS.I SAW AN OPTION FOR QUICK DISCONNECTS FOR THE FRONT SWAY BAR. MAYBE MISSED PREVIOUS POST BUT ..ANYONE USING THESE?? WORTH THE MONEY? OF COURSE AL RECOMMENDS THEM. ALSO WONDERING IF MORE FLEX MEANS MORE STRESS ON CV'S OR OTHER PARTS?? |

Welcome to LOST!! Turn you caps off...very annoying!! Your rough country lift is the reason your UBJ are failing. Get a set of OME HD springs and Rancho shocks. I assume you do some off-roading seeing your asking about quick disconnects. That lift you have on is plain junk...not made for wheelin', just for mall crawlin'!! |

Welcome to LOST, Als arms are made well for sure, and you will get more flex with the disconnects, how much is up for debate, some say a lot others say its not worth the effort every time, plus you will have some clunking no matter what. I know you didn't ask but jeepkj02 is right, even with Als arms the lift will cause you problems, also the reason you are tearing off flares is due to not having bumpstops. You have a few things to address to make what you have lasts and is safe. For what its worth, I had mine lifted over 70,000 miles with the stock arms and they are still tight and useable. |

But in all seriousness cfreelv711 Ditch the Rough Country Lift. I Have al's upper a-arms and I have the RC lift they have solved much of the UBJ contact, however there is some at full drop. I am currently in the process of changing lifts. I know you don't want to hear it, I would get rid of that Rough Country lift. At least in the front. |

jamangus wrote: cfreelv711 wrote: ALSO WONDERING IF MORE FLEX MEANS MORE STRESS ON CV'S OR OTHER PARTS?? yes but as long as you have enough bumpstops it should be alright, most do not have aftermarket bumpstops so it flexes way too much and thats when you get into problems |

Thanks for info. Maybe other newbies will benefit..Save money by buying the "good stuff" first. I only have 42,000 mi and upper arms trashed because of bad lift. Should have waited till budget could handle OME. |

Just remember whenever you put a lift on, you must install extended bumpstop to prevent premature failure to your shocks. The reason your upper ball joints/a-arm failed is from the type of lift. Whats your setup in the rear? Do you have extended bumpstops in the rear?? You can make some cheap rear bumpstops in the rear by drilling a hole in the spring perch and bolting on 2 hockey pucks. |

I have the Jeepin' by Al Gen. 5 upper control arms, Terefelex extended bump stops, and the Quick Disconnects from Jeepin' by Al. What you gain mostly with the Disconnects is maximum droop but I wouldn't recommend using them without the cut axles up front which I have as well otherwise the shaft will hit the tube during drooping. Check out right front wheel droop. |
