Post subject:  Disconnected Sway bar, lost fenders!

As the topic states, i disconnected my front sway bar, we headed out to painted gorge in imperial county, witch was closed (doh) so we open ohv'd to superstition mountain (really cool to cross the desert like that)

Anyway on our way north between the bomb ranges (it was a RUTTED trail)

I lost my front fenders, now, i collected them and threw them in the back.

So I've done this before with the sway bar on and had no problems.

What should i do?
I figure i'll leave the liners out, fab up an aluminum plate or something to cover the horns on the drivers side and the wiring/pump on the washer bottle for the passenger side. And perhaps in the future remove the flairs when i disco the sway bar?

It was so much nicer with the bar disconnected, the front was much more independent and it tracked so well it was really amazing. I also did not get hung up on a particular spot where I got high centered before.

If i remove the sway bar on the rear will I loose those fenders as well?

And for the record a crd liberty on 235 85's does ok on the dunes w/o airing down :P It's a fat cow but i got it done.

If there's no pics...it didn't happen. :P Actually me and my KJ are jealous as there is little to nothing left in PA for us to use for wheeling.

Doesn't look like a whole lot of room with those big meats on there. removing the sway bar proved that, nice jeep though.

aww man haha when i read "Fenders" I thought you meant "FENDERS" i was thinking Ohmygod! and imagined you driving through the desert minus your actual front fenders

sounds like your swaybar disco is allowing those hefty tires to stuff a little farther at certain angles to where they slapped your flares, depending on the ruts you might be able to hit them with it on, I know I managed to tag one of my flares with my stock tires at the beach during some really really nasty ruts and jumps but I'm not lifted and my suspension is pretty shot So i guess my tire clearance is as if i had a lift and some real tires that were borderline on fitting

Maybe you need longer bumpstops. Supposedly, Teraflex makes some.

I bought some uv resistant plastic clips from home depo along with some metal screws and a sheet of galvanized 32 ga steel.

And i covered up the washer bottle and clipped the abs wires out of the way ( i initially had used a BAND aid x2 untill i found my duct tape, if oyu look at the earlier pictures you can see it)

My solution the the problem is to simply remove my flares when i disco the sway bar.

I need to curl the edges of the sheet up more i think, over the boddom edge.

I am 100% positive it will rub on the bottom of the bottle/sheet at full lock.
Doing so backwards the edge could slice my rubber up. It's dark will test before we go out sunday night-monday-tuesday.

x2.

i just installed the terraflex bumpstops as i'm putting bigger skins on next week and was worried about that issue. Although, custom flatties is an interesting idea. Don't think i've seen a KJ yet w/those.

Good luck.
