When I get the part number, do I order it by part number through the parts department at my local jeep dealership, or how do I order it? Will I have to drill any holes, or does it just mount to the bolts that are holding the Transfer case and front diff skid-plates? |

I think what you are reffering to as the 'front diff skid plate' IS the engine skid (it's the furthest forward skid you can get.. also referred to as the front suspension skid). I think what you are wanting is the transmission skid which can be found here: http://www.justforjeeps.com/fueltank.html If you order it from your dealer order it by using the part number from this page. To make it fit anything older than an '05 requires a bit of work.. not sure of the details though, sorry. |

Just ordered it. Yes, I was looking for the engine/transmission skid plate. I gave my local jeep dealership that part number, and it was only $30.73. Seemed less expensive than a new oil-pan/transmission housing + any towing fees that may be required. The only things I have left to do before camp jeep, are get a D-ring hitch, a tow-strap, re-shape my front fog-light covers, and wire my light bar. |

Interestingly enough, that's a MUCH LESS beefy skid than my stock, 2003 "Suspension" skid (which is the front, engine skid NOT the tranny skid). (And I bent mine and am looking for a replacement). |
