Post subject:  Any BDS Lift Owners Out There??

I just bought the 2" BDS lift and hope to install it soon; maybe this weekend if my jobsites get rained out over the next couple of days. Any do's or don'ts from those that have installed this lift? Also, while at the local salvage yard I picked up two sets of rear isolators (they were just laying all around and onlycost $5 each). I will probably install 1 extra set to pick up 3/8"-1/2" in the rear. If I do a clevis in the front, what are the recommended number of conduit nuts per side? Or, should I even bother w/ a clevis lift since ostensibly I should be at 2" in the front and 2" in the back? BDS is listed at 2" longer springs up front and 1.5" in the rear. Looking at tires now too. I'm liking the new Goodyear Dura Tracs. I've had BFG's or MTR's (thanks to Mitch) on every Jeep I've owned and I figured what the heck, maybe try something different. Any opinions? That's sort of a joke. I've learned quickly that there's tons of opinions on this site. Anything else I should know??

I would do new shocks as well, front and rear, no use using junk worn out stockers

BDS shocks come with the kit and I already ordered the Rancho's for up front. Not too sure of the quality of the BDS shocks, but from what I've heard they're no better or worse than Ranchos. Also, I've talked to some of the techs at BDS and they swear up and down that extended bumpstops are not needed. I know most people suggest getting the Terraflex stops and it's pretty cheap insurance but the BDS guys say that they're not needed and their warranty says (I'm paraphrasing here) "If you break it, we fix it". Customer service from BDS consistently gets high marks so maybe I'll test their warranty?

Hey umm I got the bds lift didn't put iso or clevis in and the rear shocks work great and the front ranchos are a good set up. I would get front extended bumpstops if you are wheeling your jeep it tends to bottom out a little in the front without the stops on a really hard hit. Been lifted for a year with bds and no problems nice riding lift. If your are wondering on spring rate on the bds it is 410lbs in the front and 210 in the back asked before I lifted. It is a good lift IMO.

TBH

ThunderbirdJunkie thinks you are better off just buying the OME coils and the Rancho springs. He has driven a BDS-lifted KJ and it did not ride or handle as well as ThunderbirdJunkie's OME/Skyjacker sprung KJ.

Just throwin' that out there...not that there was anything WRONG with the BDS.

I've not driven any KJ w/ a lift so any lift on my KJ will be a new experience. Actually, I don't think my current suspension feels that bad, especially compared to other Jeeps I've owned. The BDS kit w/ Rancho struts and bumpstop extensions was only about $150 more than a Daystar lift w/ new struts/shocks. I figured it was worth the money for new springs all around. I do appreciate all of you taking the time to give your opinions and they weren't dismissed w/o reguard to their value. Cost undoubtedly was a factor in my decision, but not the only factor. Now, I just hope I get multiple opportunities to test this kit out.

Did you do extended bumpstops in the rear too? If so, pucks, rubber mallets, other? Thanks.

we use a rubber mallet downunder as hockey puks are hard to come by

Still running smaller tires so I haven't bump stopped the rear yet and of course no rub. Once I finally get to the new tires then I will prob bump stop the rear depending on the rub. When that time comes I will just use hockey pucks or rubber mallet.
