You would pay upwards of $1000 for an extended warranty.
A CJ sucks booty driving daily. Trust ThunderbirdJunkie and Inc on that one. I drove a TJ as a daily for almost a week. It was no better.
I have 128,000 on my KJ. I am aiming for 300,000 on the stock powertrain. I have maybe $1500 into repairs (normal people cost...less than $500 my cost) not including the evap pump that I still need to replace.
Is your KJ paid off?
Now another course of action may be...
Save some dough. Buy a CJ or YJ or something for a wheeling rig. Or, keep the KJ for playing, and buy some crappy little econobox.
The major thing is - and this may or may not be the place for it - is that you do not seem to be exceptionally good with money, judging by your posts. If I'm out of line saying this, let me know...but plan for emergencies. I know it's hard to plan for them, but hell...ya gotta do what you can. Especially with our government bending us over at every opportunity like they have the last...oh...100 years? The government may be in debt, but you do not have to be.
At any rate...as long as you keep your KJ maintained, nothing major will happen in the next 100,000 miles. I just had one in the shop not too long ago with 218,000 on it. Basic fluid changes, the lady that owned it said she'd made about $800 in actual repairs. Not bad, considering the compression numbers were only about 15% off spec and (according to my tech) it drove better than mine
Just don't be cheap when it DOES come time to fix your KJ. A major feather in your cap is that you have the manual transmission. Far less maintenance, and less expensive to fix if something major DOES go wrong.
Now, if you would like to trade for ThunderbirdJunkie's super-evil Sport of Doom (trailing behind that muddy Rennie you saw) pm me
