The manual says The suggested rotation method is the “forward-cross”.

Left Front to Rear Right
RR to Right Front
and
RF to RL
RL to LF

my neighbor and another friend say it's usually back to front (front to back) and not crossing.

ThunderbirdJunkie crosses his rears to the front and brings the fronts straight back.

I suppose that's an easier way to put it hahaha
although the manual states crossing the fronts to the rear and bringing the rears to the front.
What if I do it front to back without crossing?

I cross them front to back back to front...

Just front to back. Crossing them would be ok too, but its harder to do without a lift. I jack up one SIDE of the vehicle and swap front to back.

Has 4-tire rotation for various configurations as well.

Then the passenger side tires will wear faster

I rotate my tires a weird way but it works and they last a far bit longer.

1st I rotate front to back, same side. Then the next 3000miles I cross rotate, and then back to F to R on the same side after that, and so on and so on.

IMO, it really doesn't matter how you rotate your tires as long as you do it consistently and each tire ends up hitting every corner as often as every other tire.

I do a 5-tire rotation because I want all the tires to wear evenly. I don't like the idea of running a tire that's almost 1" larger than the rest because it hasn't worn down. Then again, I can be anal about some things.

"G" is the rotation for me! Spent the extra coil on the fifth tire, might as well use it!

I just take it to Belle Tire every 4K and get it rotated for free! Takes them about 5-10min. :D

I do a five tire rotation every 5000 miles....I rotate them clockwise so that the spare gets in on the action.

Seems to be making these ProComp MTs last and wear very even. They are getting long in the tooth but I am getting every last bit of rubber out of them this way.

I was wondering, i have heard from someone that when you cross them when you rotate (causing the tire to start spinning the other way) can cause the belts in the tire to break easier? this seem possible maybe because after a while i guess you could cause the belts to shear from one direction to another but i dunno, anyone know if this is possible in any situation? tires that never get rotated maybe settling in to a single direction or is this all just supersticion?(cant figure out how to spell that word right) lol

Back when radial tires first came out ( yes I am that old and was working in a tireshops then  ) but some brands of radials would in fact slip the belts some if rotated to the other side, was a problem for a while. The construction of tires today have eliminated that pretty much.
So its more of people hearing something and hang onto that fact forever
