I see a lot of people use ARB OME springs and the like to lift their KJ. So Im trying to wrap my head around (for example) why so many people go FrankenLift if he's just using OME springs? Im not that versed in the components of the KJ front. Are the Franken people doing something that you dont get from a straight OME lift set up? It seems like others will comprise a lift kit using OME springs and then different components. For people that have FrankenLifts, it is worth 1200.00 for 2" of lift? That seems (and Im not a cheap sensored word either) like a lot for only 2" or lift. JeepinbyAl for example offers a four inch for twice the price. 2,000.00 It isnt an easy decision. Thanks. Tom |

I did it mostly because three of my shocks for leaking and the springs were shot. I didn't want to go stock again to start all over in a few years again and end up paying more. Plus I tow a boat so the HD springs really help alot. I also needed the attention |

I think a lot of people get the Franky due to ease of installation, it's already together so just R&R everything, also you get maybe 3 -3.5 inches of lift compared to say just a OME which gets 2.5 to 3 inches unless you do some extras like a clevis and upper top plate then you will be up the same as the Franky Also I don't see it as a comprimise running OME springs and Rancho shocks for me they work better and cheaper plus lifetime warranty For a lot of people spending 650 for OME springs and Rancho shocks that do a great job and are very resonable and works for a long time ! At 80,000 plus miles I still sit right with a Franky |

Well since your trying to get a CRD your lift options are very limited. You need ultra HD front coils and OME 790's are the only ones that will do the job plus you can not lift a CRD as high as a gas KJ due to the front diff being shifted to the drivers side to make room for the oil pan thus making the drivers side CV really short thus limiting the amount of lift you can go and still keep your CV boots from tearing and/or self destructing.

Thanks TJKJ. Im learning here. To be frank, for me the CRD is worth MORE than any limited amount of lift I can or cant do with the truck. If all I can do is 2.5, then that's all I'll do. Im interested in putting some larger tires, but not so large that I have to re-gear the truck. I was thinking 31x10.50x15's. Do you think those tires will work with that FrankenLift? I asked because their own website states 2-2.5" of lift. Add to that that lifts often settle over time and you're looking at 2" or less for that kind of cash. Hmm, There arent many lifts taller than that though. It isnt like there are many places to go. Some thinking I guess is in order. |

Hmm, There arent many lifts taller than that though. It isnt like there are many places to go. I'm sitting at 3.75" of lift over the last 5 years and 50,000miles still, lost about 1/4" when I added all the armor but gained it back by a clevis lift and extra rear upper isolators(which I did 3 years ago).Though I have the older non-softride SkyJacker coil lift. Most Frankinlifted KJ's get 4" of lift and may settle to 3.5".Just stick with the OME 790's for the front and OME 948's in the rear for a CRD,add F/R ARB airlockers,4.10 gears and you will be set,oh don't forget the full set of good skid plates(you will use them).
Some thinking I guess is in order. |

Thanks TJ, you answered my questions. I guess the Franken people can sell me a kit with those springs just fine..... TJKJ, with the CRD, and with thoughts of an ARB front bumper and XD9000 winch would you say Ill need the OME medium load, or heavy load OME diesel front springs? Also, I plan on one of your Lizard rear bumper/tire carrier/gas can/high lift bumpers. Will I need the gas/diesel medium springs? Id guess I will. Tom |

The 790s are the ones for the front 500 lb rated and 948 Heavy Duty for the rear |

Yep you will need the OME 790's and OME 948's to hold all that weight like Tom stated. |

This place sure is a good reference. Im really glad I found it. So far Ive learned what Ill have to do to the engine, to the transmission, to the suspension, and Ive learned what armor is available. Those Lizard rocker skids look great. TJ, do you think the Lizard people would be willing to make a set of their rock rails (Skink sliders) with the round tubes mounted at an upward angle? Closer to the body of the truck so to speak??? Tom |

31x10.50s should not be a problem for that setup. I am running 31x10.50x15 on 15x7 rims with 4" BS. I have the 2.5" Daystar lift plus a 3/8" clevis lift. No rubbing and no problems. |
