Is there a trick to getting that thing out? I assume there is a metal c-clip in the end, but I can not get mine out of the CV axle. I've put the shaft in a vise and tapped the axle CV housing with a 2x4 fairly hard. I've turned the shaft to about every angle thinking that the c-clip might need to be just right. still won't let go. It's not rusted up, it's loose and moves about an 1/8th inch or so. Just hangs on the clip. |

On the passenger side the CV axle connects to a steel shaft a little less than 2 ft long (maybe shorter). This is actually called the Axle Shaft or Axle Stub (I think). It goes from the CV hub to the differential. The driver's side CV connects directly to the Differential. The reason I had to beat the crap out of it was because the c-clip inside had aparently rusted to the splines. I basically had to drive the inner splines through the c-clip to get the shaft out. I put a new clip on and put it into the new CV and it held, so I think everything is fine now. |
