Do I need to replace it?
It sounds like crap when idling and you can also hear it if you get underneath and whack it with your hand.
Almost sounds like a rock inside a soda can.
Thanks again for your input.

about 70k miles
How much are you guys paying for cats these days?
I want to compare it to up here. I'll have to call tomorrow to find out.....

The noise started since I lifted the Jeep, are my front springs too high? Could the extra altitude be affecting the Cat? Seems colder up there too harharhar

Maybe I'll change the muffler too and put in a Magnaflow or something.....here goes another grand

It's federal law the CAT's are warrantied for 8years/80,000miles as long as obvious abuse is not evident.99% of the places will turn you away and reffer you to a dealership where the repair is free as long as you have not damaged them offroad(dents in CAT).Make sure your KJ is spotless when you take it in.

I had one of the cats start rattling on my wife's suburban at about 78,000 miles. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole y-pipe assembly from the exhaust manifold to just before the muffler - both cats included. No charge. I would bet your dealer will do the same for your KJ.

I noticed there is a small dent in it and that was there when I bought it almost exactly one year ago from them and it's obvious it an old dent..... Maybe I'll tell them if they change it I'll give them the business for aligning my wheels

well they won't replace the cat because of the dent. They said they would but because they have to send it to Chrysler they can't replace it under warranty. Also, it's $1800!!!
On a better note, they did my alignment and it was cheaper than the other dealership I had called.
Next week I'm getting my tranny fluid and filter changed because they had to order a new pan since mine is too rusted.....costs $13 for the pan

What are your thoughts on Catco cat.conv's? Anyone try them?
