| Post subject: | Tire rub on JBA Gen 3.5? |
Anyone else have this? My tires rub at full lock on the JBA arms, on the part closest to the driver. So that would be the rear arm. I have Gen 3.5, stock alloy rims, 235/70/16... Now I know JEEP did something wrong on this rim / tire size combo, full stock they already rubbed on the stabilizer bar. So...time for me to get ofset rims? |

Yep the BS of the OEM rims and being lifted is causing your rub.Try some 16x7 rims with 4" BS and it will not rub on the UCA's and swaybar. On a IFS vehicle when you lift it you actually decrease the track width, doesn't happen when you has a solid axle though. |

Is'nt this a design fault by JBL, and that's why he is offering a discount on the gen 4.5? By rights he should he should be replacing them for FREE. |

would'nt you think that if he designed a UCA for a lifted KJ that he would of got it right the first time.He designed it for a IFS and LIFTED and he offered a DISCOUNT for replacement, so he know's there was a PROBLEM ! |

wrong, he offered a discount if you wanted to go from 3s/ 3.5s to the 4.5s not because there was a problem with them. New sit up on the ball joint on the 4.5s |

The BS of the rims is the problem for the rub,not the design of the arms. There was nothing wrong with the GEN3.5 arms.I'm still using GENII arms with no issues and no rub but I bought rims with the correct BS for the lift. The OEM rims with there 5.5" BS and bigger tires will rub on the UCA and/or swaybar and that would be with the OEM UCA's or JBA's.The upgrade thing that JBA was doing was to get the better/updated design UCA's,there was not a problem with the older design.

So with the 4.5 the issue is resolved? I am currently saving for a lift |

My stock tires also rubbed on the sway bar when I had the stock rims with a Lift. I thought about fighting Jeep for a new sway bar since its obviously designed wrong. |

LibertyRenegade wrote: So with the 4.5 the issue is resolved? I am currently saving for a lift There is no issue to be resolved with the UCA's.When you lift a IFS vehicle the track width decreases on the IFS(tires get sucked in). With stock BS and bigger/wider tires you will rub on the swaybar/UCA's even if they are stock or aftermarket.Get offset rims to fix that problem, that is the only way to fix it and is not the fault of anyone, just the nature of independent suspensions.

the actual difference between the 3.5 and 4.5 is the way the balljoint sits isn't it? |

ow yeah, $85 The welds are better on the 4.5s compared to the 3.5s as well. Some of the 3.5s welds broke. |

If you looked at the original 3s and the 4.5s there was a noticeable difference, one being different ball joints being used and also the way the ball joints were in, original 3s had a ball joint that was pressed in, 4.5s bolted Now if you buy 3.5s they look similar to the 4.5s ( since the ones he bought back , the 3s, he redid into the 3.5s) but little different bends and yes a few of the 3s cracked at the welds, I bought a used set and they were both cracked so ended up with a fantastic deal on some of the first 4.5s that came out so far work great Does anyone still have a set of 5s and running them? |

OK so let me get this right TJKJ2002, i've got a 3.5 lift, no rubbing on swaybar or UCA, had to replace UCA due to balljoint problem, purchased JBL'S UCA'S as they were cheaper than JEEP'S, and now have rubbing on the rear side of UCA both sides. GO FIGURE ( mind you i am in Aus and we do thing right down here |

Ok so, if I don't purchase offset rims to replace the stocks. Would spidertrack spacers do the trick? Just wondering.... |
