Is this for a Liberty? I didn't know they still carried much in the way of parts for Libbys. They've outfitted my TJ pretty well over the years, but parts for my KJ are usually special order. Do you have a link to the product? Usually the best approach is to call and talk with them... they're pretty reliable folks. |

Ah, I looked under the lift FAQs. That lift kit is "remarkably similar" to the BDS kit (that's a quote from 4 Wheel Drive Hardware). It would essentially be interchangeable with the BDS kit. Best bet if that's what you're interested in is registering for their forums at 4wd.com and snagging the forum discount (or they will price match). I don't believe that kit includes the shocks though (not positive, you'd have to check)... so there might be better values for you out there (as tommudd mentions). |

Let me preface this by saying I do not work for or receive any sort of commission from 4wd... my connection with them is that I went to school at Ohio University and had heard of them then, and started parts shopping through them that way. OK, disclaimer aside: Part #: 493301 2" suspension lift for KJ $450.96 with 15% off sale ongoing. http://www.4wd.com/jeep-parts.aspx?cid= ... 57&plID=60 (Link to the product page) It does include shocks. "Kit includes 4 coil springs, pair of front strut relocation brackets and a pair rear hydraulic shocks with boots" |

"2" Suspension System by 4Wheel Drive Hardware" "2002-05 Liberty;Kit includes 4 coil springs, pair of front strut relocation brackets and a pair rear hydraulic shocks with boots;Won't work on Liberty with diesel engine; Will not be able to get correct adjustment for wheel alighnment." #1 Gotta love them not spelling Alignment Right.... #2 No Alignment No Lift. Whats The Point? Tires cost too Much. And this is the Proper URL directly to the KJ setup http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx? ... artID=7001 |

Besides, she's a real sweetheart. And you get the point in spite of the typo. This is her Jeep:
And I think (but haven't confirmed this) that the "no alignment" thing means it won't be in alignment if you put in the stock numbers... no surprise, since every lift requires an alignment different from the stock adjustments. They would not offer a non-alignable lift kit... they like Jeeps too much (parking lot is full of Jeeps, as the staff there all drive/love Jeeps). edit: the no alignment part apparently applies to the CRD model, which is the reason it won't fit on one. I have asked for a clarification as it's got my curiosity up now. |

I don't get the no alignment statement as every KJ can be out into alignment by a good tech, it may not be in the center of the specs but can be aligned to where it rolls down the road straight , does not wear the tires and is enjoyable to drive. For the CRD of course it will not work as the springs are too soft would sag in a month. I have no connection to them except I helped pay for part of the showroom over the years, used to make almost weekly trips up there. so tomsjeep you went to OU, thats the last place my wife taught before going back home. She also got her Masters there. But there is some great places to wheel down around there or used to until the big city folks started buying up all the farm land and blocking the township roads. |

yes tommudd, I went to OU. Spent too much time studying and not enough time partying I guess, but I must have had misplaced priorities. Regarding the lift kit, anyone that knows me would quickly tell you I'm mechanically inept and not good at these things, so frankly the less I address this whole thing, the better. I contacted TJMagoo at 4WD about this, and she's applied for an account on the forums here... as soon as her account is approved, she'll try to address the inaccuracies and any questions. Rather than muddle up things any worse, I'll just wait until she gets onboard. Yeah, I probably contributed to striping the parking lot (maybe even paving it) at 4wd. Nice folks, like a lot of Jeep parts suppliers, they're fun to talk with, and are enthusiastic about what they do. |

We, well mostly the LOST Ohio guys, put a 2" BDS kit on my Liberty a few weeks back and I couldn't be happier. Basically the same kit as 4WD, but picked up at a nearby supplier ( www.por4x4.com the owners name is Roy--real nice guy) it was $385 out the door. I did have to buy front struts and new bumpstops on top of all that, but all total I think I have about $550 into it. I netted out at about 4" from where it was sitting and It rides incredibly well. BTW, my wife and I went to grad school at OU. Glad I went as a grad student and not an undergrad. With 25 bars on one street, I never would have graduated. I posted some picts on the Ohio LOST section under "Lift Party picts" if you want to take a look. Sperb |
