our '04 4x4 KJ with OME lift, factory alloy wheels, Firestone Destination ATs 245/75-16s have slight front tire rub on full lock. should I adjust wheel stops and add a washer, or use wheel spacers? will a 1.0" wheel spacer work without grinding down the wheel studs?

I don't think so. Spider trax units are 1.5" and have their own studs.

most with stock wheels rub on the sway bar when turning all the way to the right or left, wheel spacers will help but may cause other problems, no wheel stops to adjust, would be a bad idea to grind down the wheel studs
Use Spidertrax 1.25 inch wheel spacers or get wheels with a better back spacing

With the 245/75/R16, stock rims, and no spacers I had the rub on the sway bar as described.

With the 245/75/R16, stock rims, and 1.25" spider trax spacers I no longer had rub on the sway bar, but instead had minor rub between the front outer edge of the tire and the front outer edge of the wheel well (around where the flap for fog light access is located).

The minor rub in the wheel well was better than the sway bay rub at full lock. Also this minor rub can be fixed via heating up the inside of the wheel well with a heat gun and pushing it 1/2" forward, or trimming out the area that rubs, or even better yet install the ARB front bumper and that entire area of the wheel well is now gone leaving plenty of room.

Oh and in regards to the original question, the 1.25" spacers just manage to swallow the stud height, so no I don't think 1" will work.
