Yesterday I swapped my 16 X 8 Rubicon Moabs (Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 245/75/R16) for my 17 X 7 OEM wheels (stock tires 235/65/R17). While running the Moabs and driving through drainage dips in the road, I had problems with the A-arms banging (I suppose the pockets) and I was having some contact on my passenger side springs. I’m not sure what’s making contact with my springs, maybe the A-arms? Anyway, I switch to my factory rims and tires, and now I am having zero issues. I am now able to drive through those drainage dips in the road (without slowing down) without any suspension noise. Nothing seems to be making contact with the springs and the A-arms are silent. I’m confused why I was having so much problems while running the Moabs and now I am having no problems running my stock tires and wheels.

It's the tires, the OEM tires are only "P" rated and give alot more then those "E" rated tires you have on the MOAB's,kinda like a suspension for the suspension.

Troy, I checked both sides, and it looks like my JBA 4.5 A-arms are hitting my coils, what's up with that?

There is no doubt that the Jeep rides 100% better with the stock P rated tires than those heavy E rated tires. Oh, and until I get those 4:10’s installed, I’m not going back to those taller tires. I feel like I gained 100 HP when I went back to the stock tires.

There is no doubt that the Jeep rides 100% better with the stock P rated tires than those heavy D rated tires. Oh, and until I get those 4:10’s installed, I’m not going back to those taller tires. I feel like I gained 100 HP when I went back to the stock tires.
You are running to much lift in the front,it would be much worse if you had gone to CRD coils.

only thing it can be if the arms are hitting the springs, recently I had mine higher and it was so close had to bring it back down a quarter inch

Perhaps the A-arms were rubbing when I sat taller. I should be fine now…..I hope. I’m sitting at 21.5” on the drivers side and 22” on the passenger side from the center of the hub to the outside fender flare. I guess this is what happens when you turn a 2.5” lift into a 3.5” lift.

mmm
you are not that high then, but you have a Franky wonder if that is what the difference is. I was at 23 plus when I was almost hitting, dropped it down to 22.5 and ok now
I think Chris is about 22 1/4 to 22.5 and ok with the Franky though????

Do you have the front and rear pockets cut out? I cut both out on mine and Chris' trying to think of differences

No, my pockets are not cut out, but I don’t see how cutting the pockets would prevent the A-arms from hitting the springs????? Right? The A-arms are going to travel the same path whether the pockets are cut or not. The pockets will stop the A-arm travel, but I don't think that should be a problem??? My pockets are slowly being wallowed out by the natural impact. I’m open to suggestions……… Right now I don’t seem to have much contact. I just took off the Moabs yesterday so I haven’t really driven it much. Very confusing........ :?
