| Post subject: | Lift Questions -> Doing it Right The First Time |
I was going to get my lift sooner instead I am going to take the money and make a huge payment on the jeep I am going to go with a franky lift. I have a a 03 Renny with OEM Rims. She is my daily driver so I dont get to do much offroardin, but from time to time i do. I don't plan on getting bumpers or winch so what lift is good for me. I was thinking the Standard franky with A-Arms?? Thoughts? Also from what I read there is a rubbing issue with the OEM rims. So I would buy some spider trax to combat that. Anything else I should be aware of or sugguest I get? Will it all work? Thx. Also I got a strut or strut mount going so I am going to hold of until the lift and that will fix all that. [/i] |

"Also from what I read there is a rubbing issue with the OEM rims. So I would buy some spider trax to combat that" It will depend on the size tire you intend to run. 245/75/R16 BFG AT's with 2.5" lift. Front inside edge of the tires will rub the sway bar when at full lock. Add the 1.25" spider trax and this rubbing is gone, however there will now be minor rub from the front outside edge of the tire and the front of the wheel well (right about where the fog light access hatch is). This rub can be resolved with a heat gun and pushing the front of the wheel well forward about 3/4" or trimming out the area. I have the spider trax on the OEM rims, however if I had it all to do over again I probably wouldn't have bought the spider trax, and instead put that money towards some 7"W/R16 steel rims with 4.5" BS, which probably wouldn't have given any rub at all with 245/75/R16's. |

Well I wont have to worry about that till after. I just bought some new tires (had no summer tires at all). So I will be running 235/70/R16s for a bit. |

Your fine then, you can run 235/70/R16 on the stock suspension with no rub, so even after you lift it there won't be an issue except that the tires will look a little small with all the extra space around them after the lift. |

i think if you shrink the sidewall down you will be fine also. i have 255/70/16 on my stock wheels with no lift so if you get some 255/70 instead of 245/75 you would probably be ok also |
