Well really it all depends on if you want to run front and rear bumpers in the future. OME HD's will make for stiff ride without bumpers and added weight. But, it well help if you plan on adding bumpers. |

| Post subject: | OME Springs- Heavy or Medium? |
I am going to be ordering OME springs tomorrow and I am torn between the medium and heavy. I am not going for maximum lift just want to replace the worn originals and get back some height lost by age. These will be installed with new Ranchos as well. I have 245/70 tires and dont want them to look too small once the new springs are on. I know it has been debated and most have gone with the heavy but wanted to get eveybodys opinion for both to help me decide. Thanks |

I meant to mention that in the original post but no future plans for aftermarket bumbers. |

If....you are never going to have a aftermarket front bumper then you could do mediums, with that said I have installed OME HDs up front on several now with the stock front bumpers and they like them. Look at all the people who have Frankenlifts and no aftermarket front bumpers, those are all Heavy Dutys as well. Without doing a clevis and other things you will only raise about 2 maybe 2.25 over stock anyways |

I would go HD whether you were planning on bumper or not |

Yup Hd's especially after you get plenty of miles on them they will hold up longer |

I guess my thinking is the mediums will sag quicker but the heavys may ride to stiff. Will there be much of a differnce in lift height between the two? |

Yep. I've got HD springs in the front of mine with factory plastic bumper and it rides just fine. I got MD in the rear and although it rides ok, I wish I would have waited for the HD springs. |

I have the HD's on a completely stock KJ and they're great. Not harsh at all. I also have stock size General Grabbers and they look right at home.

Do your self a favor and go with the OME HDs now. Once you start adding weight (and no matter what you say now, you will) the front will start to sag. So, I may not have an ARB front bumper, but I do have the following which all add some weight to the front: Front Skid Plate Engine/Transmission Skid Plate Transfer Case Skid Plate Rock Rails Front Differential Collar Front Receiver Hitch All add sprung weight to the vehicle. Even the Hella 500s that I still have to add to the front will add a little bit more weight. Now put my 250 lbs. in the driver's seat,... and you get the idea... |

I guess if I go with the HD's and the ride is too stiff I can just eat more and put some weight on. |

I had mediums on the front and it did not lift it near as high as the OME HD's on the rear. Rustys coils brought it up level with the rear. |

Or it would be a good excuse to buy an ARB bumper and winch |

I'm going with OME HD's front & rear. Mind you my bumpers are stock and regardless of the fact I don't plan to replace my bumpers, I also believe never say never. |

(...facepalm...) glad I didn't have to point that out to you, you know what an idiot you are. Knowing that you are is the first step to recovery |
