Post subject:  Strut Question

OK guys, this isn't about my Jeep, but I know one of you will know the answer. I've been putting front struts on my son's '96 Concorde for two days now. Everything that could go wrong has. Wrong parts, no parts, waiting on parts, stripped nut on a stabilzer bar link. You name it, it's gone wrong. So, when I finally got everything together, my son just took the struts to Midas to have them pressed. (I was tired and not in the mood to fight them, I just wanted to get them back on the car) They totally ignored my alignment marks on the right strut, and pressed the left side without any alignment marks. So, everything is not properly aligned now. The right side I can make then re-do. What do I do about the left side, which they did not mark?

Thanks. BTW, as soon as the Concorde is fixed, the Libby goes up for Daystar in the front and OME springs in the back. :D

If your local midas offers alignments, I'd speak to the manager about having them do it. Although I've never seen the alignment get thrown off but strut, generally it's mounting the struts (on your part) that throws the alignment off with camber. If you get the proper angle on the steering knuckle/spindle, you should be fine. Test drive the car-if it feels safe it probably is. I have done enough alignments to know that the best way to see if an alignment is off is to test drive the vehicle. If after a month or two, the tires start wearing weird-get the car professionally aligned.
