I have an 04 Renegade with 103000 miles on it. I recently had an "overhaul" and a shift kit done to the tranny. Does great in 2wd, but when I shift into 4low, the tranny slips when I start giving it gas is drive or reverse. Works fine once I get going until I have to stop and turn around. Starts slipping again. Then if I go back in to 4hi or 2wd I have a total loss of power. Almost like its trying to start in 2nd. So I turn it off and restart and it seems to run fine, but then the check engine light comes on. P0700-tranny code. So I do what anybody else would do and disconnect the battery. All is fine until I go wheeling and put it 4low, then its starts all over. This has happened many times. I am tired of disconnecting the battery, so I am taking it back in. Anybody know what's going on or have the same issues? I would like to know so when I take it back, I'll sound like I know what I'm talking about.

so putting it in 4 low is what sets it off? what about 4 hi? the transmission shouldn't care what the transfer case is in. i don't have much experience with the 42RLE, but I'd take a look at the speed sensor(s). the computer might be seeing the overall drive ratio change (or not seeing it change when it thinks it should) and think something is wrong, thus the code.

just my thoughts. good luck.

If the tranny was actually slipping it should be easier for the tranny to turn when the tcase is in 4low. Very odd whats going on there.

Does the rebuilt have a warranty?

Thanks for the replies. Putting it in 4low is what sets it off. Luckily it still is under warranty. I'm taking it in to Aamco today, so I will keep you posted. Thanks again.
