My 2006 crd has a stock suspension (garage door height is forbidding lift) and I was wondering if any of you change the rear shocks with a great improvement in handling and comfort. The guy that had the liberty before me was hauling a trailer most of the time. What brand of shock are you using . Give me your input.

Thanks.

Definatly go with the rancho RSX's. They are a very smooth ride and handle great! I have ran mine for a while now and never failed me yet!

They are rancho RSX 17004, this is the best place to buy them: http://www.amazon.com/Rancho-RSX17004-R ... 052&sr=8-1

If you look for them somewhere else it will say that it wont fit your KJ bc they are supposed to fit a dodge dakota or durango I forget which one. But they will fit the KJ with no modification required, it goes right it.

Hope that helped!

I think yes, many people here uses Monroe or Kony and Dobinson as an alternative

this is an Italian dealer but i think if you search you can find it

you CANNOT use a rsx17004 on a stock KJ they are for 2-2 1/2" lifted kj's only they WILL bottom out with a stock height suspension,

you can get a rsx for stock height kj its just a different part number

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking at the monroe sensatrac and it seems a fair deal. Anybody is using them? I check for the rancho and they don't have any RSX for the stock liberty. They have the struts shocks but not the rear. I hesitate between the Rancho RS5284 and the Monroe 37203 but I feel the Monroe are a bit better quality then the Rancho. I don't do that much offroad and I want a machine that can face the elements and the highway as well.

The Monroe's will wearout faster then the Rancho's will.Even though Rancho is a sub company of Monroe,Rancho's are made for more abuse and to last longer, let's just say Rancho is there good stuff while the Monroe name is the okay stuff.

I have not had good experience with Monroe on other vehicles-- they don't last long. For the Jeep, the Rancho's are a much better deal if you ask me. If they can take the pounding some folks here put them through, you are better off with them. If you really want a better ride, upgrade the springs. The stock ones are mushy as hell on the CRD-- I used to brake and the CRD nosedived hard. New shocks are not going to fix that, but the stock shocks are also crap and could stand to be replaced regardless.
