| Post subject: | leaking roof |
i have a leak in my roof somewhere. after a heavy rain storm i ll drive off and hear water sloshing around above me. water will sometimes come out above the windshield on the inside, out of the overhead light, and/or the driver side "oh crap" handle. i do have a sun roof but it i dont see any wetness around that area. anyone know if there are certain areas i should look for or know of potential areas where water can get in? thanks! |

If it is not the original windshield..... See if there is a piece of weatherstripping above the windshield..... Some installers add weatherstripping BUT it causes the water not to drain properly... I had the same issue... Took of the weatherstripping... and the problem was gone... |

Do you have a Renegade light bar? If so, check the seals fro leaks. |

Under the black trim on your roof is a little trough where several laminations of sheet metal come together to be spot welded. They are tight together and painted after, I believe. They should be sealed. There are the nut inserts for your roof bars. I assume you have the stock bars with the plastic caps hiding the nuts? You might give each corner a firm gradual tug and see if they feel like they are still well connected. I don't think that would be a likely entrance if you're stock though. Could he be leaking into the rear window hinges or center brake light? |
