| Post subject: | Rear Control Arms |
I dont know if there is a post already about the different types of control arms that you can get for the liberty or not but I was looking into gettin the JBA ones and someone also said that RE TJ arms would work too, but I got onto RE's web site and saw that there are no holes to put the sway bar back into place, and shouldnt the back sway bar be in all the time or you will roll easily? But if anyone has any input let me know! Thanks |

the rear sway bar has much, much less effect than the front sway bar you need the front connected on the road, the rear.. not so much |

not sure which one he's talkin about, don't the jba rear arms allow you to move the rear end back to get your tires off your fender behind the rear doors at 4" with 31's when flexed? |

Unless you also have a custom upper tri-link made that is also adjustable you do not want to extend the rear LCA's any more then stock, otherwise the pinion angle will be messed up resulting in accelerated u-joint wear, drive line vibs, and you may trash the pinion bearings also since the pinion will be pointed down instead of at a upward angle.

By installing longer lower arms you are pointing the front of the diff farther down, which puts everything more on a bind, we have already done some of that by installing a lift. Only way to correctly do it is like Troy stated and have a custom longer tri link and then longer lower arms , then of course you may even need a little longer driveshaft since you will be pulling it back some. See no matter what you do there is always more to do and spend money on! |

Dangggggg....lol now could I add the JBA rear tri-link or would it still have to be custom? Also with the drive shaft would I have to get a custom length or does JBA have drive shafts to the length I would need? I'm really all just currious bc I might be putting the 4in springs in the rear soon. |

The JBA rear tri link does not make it longer only moves the mount up higher so its more like stock, so no would not help that much really as far as what you are looking to do |

if you find that you have a bunch of trouble with rubbing in the front of the tire on the metal and flare behind the rear doors send OHV_KJ a pm and ask him how he resolved it he's done it several times over |

those aftermarket LOWER REAR control arms DO do something, they have flex joints, and dont put stress on the factory rubber bushings. as long as you keep them the ORIGINAL KJ length. i looked at the CURRIE rear TJ control arms, they have a flex joint and are very nice beefy arms, but arent greasable, the Rubicon Express ones are greaseable and are good as well. BUT you cannot use your rear swaybar, unless you weld on a bracket like ALs LONG REAR LOWER control arms have, or just buy his arms its just too bad we dont have a aftermarket upper tri-link, because i just replaced the bushings in it, and the way its angled and moves while the suspension flexes, causes the bushings to tear themselves apart. im going to have to get the AL's tri-link bracket to keep these bushings from getting destroyed again. good reason to keep your factory arms, so you can still use your swaybar and try to keep things back there somewhat in check, and from putting so much stress on the tri-link balljoint and bushings |
