Post subject:  Water temp

what would you guys suggest as a normal operating water temp for the KJ?? I recently installed a gauge pod and i am seeing temps any where from 210-240F, is this normal??. The other thing i maybe not trust is the gauge pod gauge. It seems that when ever i add any electrical load to the (head lights, fogs, light bar, HVAC fan etc) the gauge seems to spike by say 10-15 degrees. not sure what would cause this but anyone's insight would be great

Mine runs around 193-195F when running down the road(55mph+). At idle Ive seen it as high as 220F or so unless I have the A/C on, then it stays at 195F since the fan runs all the time.

If you have the mechanical fan it may not get as high as one with just the electric fan. Thats one reason I dont like having just an electric fan, it only kicks on at a certain temp. A mechanical fan is always pulling a small amount of air even if its not fully engaged.

The t-stat in your KJ doesn't fully open till 218 degrees, with that being said the normal operating temp is from about 195-235 degrees before you start getting into danger. The electric fan should not even come on till about 215-220 degrees.

ok that temps about right then. just thought it would be in the 180-200f range. i guess it must be the gauge itself that for whatever reason seams to spike when i turn on the lights etc. Guess ill have to trace out that problem

Electronic gauge or mechanical gauge? Electric gauges are never even close.

My Scangauge reads 198-205 mostly. Still running the original t-stat.

electrical gages require a good steady voltage to get a good steady reading....you might want to get your battery checked, could be getting weak

what kind of gages did you buy?
