| Post subject: | Installing franky in a snap?? |
So, I will be installng my new frankenlift in a couple of days and I got a hint from our good friend Inc.. He says that I can put the lift on without using spring compressors by placing the sciccor/stock jack in between the frame rails and the axle to push the axle down. Does this work all the way around? I just dont see how it is possible on the front. Anyone got any ideas or pictures of how they did theirs? I dont want another Fluster Cluck like my daystar was... |

That method only works on the rear axle. The bottle jack is used to push the axle down to get the coil spring out. |

the frankenlift comes pre-assembled as a whole strut assembly, no spring compressors needed. take out battery box, take out airbox, adn the rest is simple. the rear, unbolt the shocks on both sides while the jeep has jackstands under the frame, letting the rear suspension totally droop. and the springs will come right out. the shocks and springs on the rear are separate, and do not need spring compressors. a jack under one side pushing up, will bring the other side down, letting you pop out the spring and put in the new one. a friend here will help, might need a tiny extra push down on the side your putting the spring in, to help it pop in i have never needed to use a bottle jack to push anything, just a simple floor jack pushing UP on one side will automatuically bring the other side DOWN |

Mine was installed in 30 mins. I bought it pre-assembled though and my friend who did most of the work is a monster. |

I was most concerned about the front. I have actually had my rear spring pop out while on the trail andmanaged to pop it right bak in using the blade end of a shovel and the shaft wedged aginst the tire for leverage. Wasnt thinking the rear to be too hard. The front was the pain with the daystar. Not only the disassembly and reassembly of the strut since the spring compressors I got were too thick to fit between the springs(had to grind them down to work. The strut didnt necessarily pop right in the front. Are there any tricks for makin the front go in with ease? That seems to be everyones issue when installing the franky's and daystars Thanks for the quick replies, maybe Im just not to clear about the answer I am lookin for. My apologies, |

need two rachet straps on the front, start the nuts on the top and then hook the straps on the front and rear of the clevis and over to the other side, then just pull them in works great and doesn't take a lot of time at all |

Ratchet straps.. Thats what I was lookin for. I remembered reading a post that said something about using a ratchet strap to pull the clevis from one side to the other. I was lookin around for a picture of how you did that, but I bet after I got the jeep apart and have the strap in hand, I may be able to connet the dots? Thanks tommud |

Once you get a couple bolts on top to hold the strut/spring assembly up in place, you want to put the straps on each "fork" of the clevis/other end on the frame under there somewhere. This way you can pull each one separately to get that bottom bolt lined up....works great, about the only good advice Tom has ever given... HAHAHAH just kidding |

Because yours in preassembled, it should be fairly easy. I remember when we installed mine, we had to compress and decompress multiple times on the passenger front side because we kept forgetting pieces/lining it up wrong/etc. That took up most of the time, everything else is pretty straight forward. Good luck. |

No need for any spring compressors or bottle jack for installing the rear coils, just unbolt the rear swaybar and throw it as far as you can then you will not have a problem. |
