I e-mailed Chrysler asking what was the MAXIMUM torque my tranny and transfer case could take. Three days later I get a phone call from them with their answer. They wouldn't tell me! All they said was that the engine puts out 265lbs. (or whatever it is) torque and that the tranny and transfer case are for that setup and do not recommend any changes. So I said "In other words you are not going to tell me, right?" He said that was correct.

I just love these companies covering their posterior ends!

if they gave you a number higher than that they're opening up lawsuit possibilities.

however danoid or GreenDieselEngineering may be able to give you a design guidelines,
they tend to have inside information.

The reason I was asking is because I was wondering how much I can do to the 3.7L before I would have to worry about breaking something.

For years I would be asked "what's the MAXIMUM power your subwoofers can take?" I would always answer "there's no way I'm telling you!"

I sure am glad everyone on here doesn't have that attitude. There would be no forum!

If you're referring to internal mods to the 3.7, thats going to change things.

If you're referring to mods such as steel wheels, bigger tires, weight, and such, according to the guy who wrote "The Four Wheeler's Bible", torque issues, and these mods are all factors to destruction of front end components on IFS vehicles when wheeling.

Note, the author didn't single out the KJ but wrote about this because many IFS vehicle owner's are now doing SFA swaps. Which he highly recommended if you want to go hard-core. So those here who have or are doing SFA swaps are not alone.
