Post subject:  FRONT FENDER RUB

I finally installed my OME Rockfather lift, super happy with it and got a little more than 2.5 inches. Now the only issue is that the wheels rib slightly when i turn. Any suggestions to fix that? I just installed 16" Moabs with stock Rubicon wheels. Thanks in advance!

Where do they rub?
Have you pounded down the pinch weld?
Have you trimmed the inner fender liner?

We can't help if we don't know.

I do not have TJ rims, but with the stockers all that I had to do was remove the small "splash guard" from below the front air dam. No more rubbies. I am not sure what year you have, so your actual mileage may vary.

Depends on the year you have but what has been said above will take care of it. Almost every one that I have seen takes some massaging in front of the tires (esp the left front). Also if you haven't done it the pinch weld will "sometimes" need to be pounded over. Not always but sometimes

Bumper trim, and pinch weld pounding are your best bet. Depending on tire size.

I think the rub is the pinch weld. Do you just hammer is down, what about the plastic cover that cover the pinch weld?

Maybe you guys can answer these questions to. I installed No Slip Powertrax Rear Locker and Detroit Trutrac LSD in the front, now my mechanic said that it was a $2300 job and he gave me a huge break, anyone know about how much for the job of installing front and rear diffs and suspension? Also, I feel almost like a downshift when I quickly get of the accelerator or do hard braking, any idea? He told me he had to drop the motor a little bit for the front suspension to be installed and he said he put it back once bolted, you think this have any effect or is it just because of all the things I did to it? Thanks in advance!

had to drop the motor to install the front diff? Doesn't make any sense!
2300 bucks was that for parts labor and everything ? If that was everything then may not of been a bad deal

cut out the plastic with a dremel around the pinch weld, bang in pinch weld, heat up plastic melt it back together with heat gun

Dropped the motor? Why? I've taken my front end apart five times to install lift springs, struts, LCAs, UCAs and ball joints. Never had to touch the motor for any of it.

Not sure about installing a locker in the front but, the rear should be a fairly cheap job (3 hours max, I'd say). Front I'd guess at maybe two hours more. I don't think it'd cost $2300 to have it done around here, that's for sure. I'd find a different shop to work with, or learn how to do all this stuff yourself. ;)

As for the pinchweld: Just cut off the plastic (or take the inner liner out completely), pound the weld, and paint everywhere necessary after pounding. There's a couple nice threads around here for cutting the "front of the tire" areas.

Right, so does anyone have any idea about this downshift feelign when I quickly get of the accelerator or do hard braking, any idea, is it supposed to be like that? He told me he had to drop the motor a little bit for the front suspension to be installed and he said he put it back once bolted, you think this hasany effect or is it just because of all the things I did to it?
