I was recently up at autozone and a guy who worked there had a KJ, he traded it in for a FJ Cruiser (lame), anyway, he has a Jet chip he is wanted to sell, it is about a month old and he still has the box and everything for $100. I was just wondering if anyone has used this before or if its even worth it?

I don't run one, but if you want to maximize the gain you'll need to run premium, replace the muffler narrow down and have a freer flowing intake. But for $100 that's pretty nice I would buy it at that price.

depends on what stage, stage 1 you dont need to improve air intake/exhaust, or run 91. Stage 2 you need to do the above. For $100 you can afford the CAI & Muffler IMO.

I had a stage 1 in mine... changed the shift point to 5500rpms from 4500rms... acceleration was tremendously better; instead of dropping off and slowing down at 40mph it has a nice constant acceleration all the way up to 100mph... HP decreased some... This chip ran my system SOOO rich I had to replace my new spark plugs after 10,000 miles... I also had a CAI, factory exhaust, and was not running premium gas as the company states this isn't required... Personally, if you are going to use the jeep as a grocery getter, having the quicker acceleration is nice, but I'm guessing it won't be optimal on the trails, being if you lose HP with it, I'm sure you lose a little torque as well... Stage 2 seems to be worth having... I have removed my chip until I do the exhaust and 180 degree thermostat, then I will be getting a Stage 2...

good luck with the 180 t-stat....don't think they exist for the 3.7L (or the 4.7L for that matter)

i've had both the stage 1 and stage 2 and think the stage 1 is a waste of money. i run 92/93 octane with the stage 2 and it seems to help in the get-up and go dept, however, if you are going to buy the Jet chip at retail price, save a few more pennies and go to B&G, it's probably a better bang for the buck from what I hear

X2 on the B&G. i've been running the Jet stage II for 4 years now. i run it on midgrade but that's because i use acetone as a fuel additive and i'm also running an HHO device.

The stage II does make a difference but it's nominal IMHO. i got the stage II as i have an FIPK and performance exhaust. If i had it to do over though i would go with the B&G flash. Eventually i'm going to sell the stage II and get the flash.

The chips play some tricks to get the computer to run the engine a little differently. The flash actually re-programs the computer. Save up a little more cash and do it right the first time. You'll be much happier in the long run.
