Getting ready to replace the second set of shocks on the rear of our KJ since installing Rusty's 2" lift. What are everyones favorites? It's mainly out DD family truckster. Dirt roads is as close to off-road as it gets. Looking for something with a fairly smooth ride. Part #'s would be appreciated.

Bilsteins for 99-04 Dodge Dakota 4 wheel drive rear shocks are the right size
OME 132Ls work great as well
Do you have bumpstops ? How long are the shocks lasting??

I have what ever was factory installed for bumpstops. The first set lasted 4-5 years, but the road salt up here rusted the pistons causing them to leak. Rusty replaced those under warranty 2 years ago. The mount bushings on the replacements have disintegrated. I could probably get them warrantied again but i never liked the way they rode anyway.

The Rustys rear shocks are pretty cheap to begin with and also never fit well
You'll be much happier with Bilsteins or OME

a couple less expensive options are Dodge Durango shocks from 01 IIRC. also Rough Country makes a decent 9000 series shock for the KJ.

But with a lift you need longer shocks so ones for a KJ would not be long enough

why not? The RC shocks are made for their lift. 2.5-3"

But if they are for a lift then they maybe long enough
