Post subject:  Noises after lift install?

Hey all, I just had a Daystar spacer lift and Rancho shocks put on my '06 KJ along with some new Goodyear Duratracs... This is my first vehicle I've owned with a lift so I'm curious if I'm being paranoid of noises... I'm hearing a lot of clunking from the front end going over normal road bumps?? Kinda like as if something was loose? Also I feel a lot of vibration at certain speeds ( 40-50mph ).. I guess I'm just wondering if these are normal things or maybe when the lift settles will go away.. I expected to have some rubbing noise at full turn and also some road noise an vibes from the new tires but I'm getting more then what I think I should be hearing... Thanks in advance...

Derek

i expericnced some clunking noises and could not for the life of me figure out where it was coming from. It sounded as if the whole front suspension was going to fall off just on regular bumps. Come to find out after poking around the culprit was a loose upper bolt on the sway bar link. That little thing was making all that noise :?

You should not hear any clunking "as if something was loose". No matter if it's a Daystar or Franky or any lift! I've had the Daystar on for 2 yrs now (changing to OME soon) and no clunking until recently and found bad lower A-Arm bushings. Check ALL bolts quickly. Noises come from metal on metal and this is not good!

I just replaced my stock suspension with OME struts/coils/shocks and new JBA UCA's. I heard clunking going over speed bumps coming from the front right...I came to the realization that it was the front of the UCA contacting the top of the Pocket...i could have put on extended bump stops but didn't want to lose flex so i angle grinded out the pockets to allow more space..I took it out to Rausch Creek to experience the new ride and pushed the suspension pretty good...No more noise and the contact between the UCA and unibody arm pocket is gone....my tires rub a tad bit when packed up in the well but i expect that...i would check all the bolts and the control arm.

Not normal at all but go through everything and make sure everything is tight, may even have to pull the springs out and double check the top nut to make sure it is tight enough.
Did you install extended bumpstops?

I'm gonna take the advice an check all of the nuts an bolts as soon as I can.... As for the extended bump stops, um I'm pretty sure they put them in when they installed the daystar kit ( I had the spacers and shocks put in by a shop ). would short bump stops effect me even at low impact bumps such as going slowly going off the end off a driveway. The other thing that makes me wonder is it typically only happens at low speed hhhmm??

I noticed the noises when going slow over speed bumps or entranc/exits off roadways....I also noticed it when going at a moderate speed on bumpy roads....when I looked in the wheel well I noticed the bump stop had been impacted on that side, I didn't think it could have been the case when going that slow but it was.

Thanks all for your input... I had a shop take a look at it, they found it too be bad rear u-joints an both front lower balljoints... These are the third set in only 64,000 miles WTF!!!! this time the shop put in Moog joints..... Now the KJ rides great with all the new toys.....
