| Post subject: | Larger fuel tank |
I saw the topic about the extended tank made in Australia for the CRD Liberty. Is there an equivalent larger gas tank, or any way to safely mount an auxiliary fuel tank in a 2002 4WD Liberty available in the U.S.? Jerry cans on a roofrack or hitch carrier won't do. Thanks! |

Why do you have to be so difficult? Is it an Illinois thing? |

Don't the 2005+ KJ's have a larger tank? I think it's 19.5 or 20.5 gallons. |

The Aussie extended range tanks would be well over $1000(part + shipping) to get here in the states,if they even make them anymore. Also not able to use a skid plate. If you go with the newer KJ's 20.5 gallon tank(it will fit and bolt in) it will cost you about $600+ for the tank alone, there not cheap, and not really worth the extra 2 gallons. |

That's Ill Annoy to you. I'm a Nevadan in exile. I used to have a 1990 Dodge W250; both underside and bed mount auxiliary and larger replacement tanks were available for it that did not cost insanely; I know the Liberty is a compact little bugger but I was hoping there were something available. Purpose is gas availability for a generator; I live in a townhome with attached garage. I can't store more than (I think) one or two gallons in there (nominally for lawn equipment or snowblower) so the vehicle fuel tanks are the only 'safe' storage location. The late model tank is worthy of consideration if I can get one cheaper. At least the plastic tanks are more likely to be cleanable/usable than the metal tank in my old Dodge car, assuming its possible to get a used one. |

I once bought a 50 gallon tank from Opposite Locke for my HZJ-60 Land cruiser. It cost as much to ship it (600.00) as it did to buy it. That larger KJ tank is for 2004 and older CRD's. Nobody makes one for OUR CRD's. (2005-2006) |
