I'm a chick, so I've got questions, and the guy who did $15,000 worth of work on our Rubi can't seem to give me the time of day. For winter, I want to put the 32inch tires from our Rubi onto the KJ. Obviously I'll need a body lift, but I don't want to spend too much money, as I am planning on doing a full build next year. 1. What size spacer will I need, and what is a good product? (I will not be taking it off road.. unless there is ice 2. Will I need to get new axels in order to fit the bigger tires on? Thanks for any help! Diandra |

Ok, 32" tires on the KJ will mean, lifting it, 2.5- 3 " to start. 2nd ,31 would be the max dia the KJ will handle with out re gearing even though there are members out there that are using them. also 31's to 32's major trimimg of the palstic wells and front facia depending on the year you have. there is no body lift for a KJ since its a unibody construction. the perfect size tire on the KJ would be a 245x75/ 255x75. hope it helps |

Get a 2.5" Old Man Emu HD lift kit. You'll be very happy. |

Are you the same Diandra from Jeepkj? And why didnt you ask there questions over there? First thing, there is no body lift for a KJ. The kj is a uni-frame so the frame and body are all one piece. Second, a 32" tire is really the MAX tire you can fit on a kj with the average 3" lift and really its not all that practical unless youre wanting them for offroad reason. For onroad driving in the winter the amount of time and $ it would take you to get them to work wouldnt be worth it. You would really need to re gear to 4:10 gears also. The OME HD coils are pretty popular around here as are 245/75/16 tires(~31"). |

daystar 2.5" lift, 3/8" top plate & and extra Iso or 2 for the rear will give you the clearance you need (including some trimming, pinch weld slamming), I'm running that setup and I have plenty of room to fit 32's. Heck if I had spacers I'd be temped to run 33's (my 245/75r16 E rated MTG's weigh 20lbs more than a 33" P rated tire) Yea you will need to re-gear, and get after market A-Arms, but... that can all be accomplished with time. Also 15k into a Rubi!? does it fly? |

Just a question: as you say 32" tires, is your Rubi a TJ or JK? You can use the rims and all from a TJ, but the JK has a different lug pattern and will not work without some sort of lug adapter. |

And Jeepster she asked here due it being the best place to ask! Haha, its true. I reject your reality and substitute it for my own. If you get two answers that are the same then someone must be doing something correct. Heck, maybe we should all stop posting and just let one person post if thats the case. LIV42DY, were all going to sit back and let you handle all the questions. |

I asked here because I have no clue how many forums I'm on... And there was drinking involved in the thought process, so where I posted was the last thing on my mind. The Rubi is a JK, and I had a feeling the lugs weren't going to match up. I wanted to see if I could use the 32s we already have for the harsh winter thats coming without having to spend too much money. I'm not planning on wheeling the Liberty yet. My plan was to do some spacers and throw the tires on. OME 2.5 sounded good to me, but since its my DD, if I have to change the gears, it might not be worth it. I just don't think the STs will do me well this winter. (Rubi's Specs: 4inch Teraflex lift on 36' Kevlars with full flex arms. Has a Warn Powerplant. and some other specialty stuff. All I care is that I can rockclimb. I'm a selfish Bee.) Linky: http://s516.photobucket.com/albums/u326 ... V00457.flv |

I've had no problems with street tires during snowstorms here in NJ. Just drive cautiously. |

Diandra, I ran my 32" tires for about a year before regearing. You just won't be able to chirp the tires anymore. Your acceleration off the stop lights will be sub par but I don't think it made drivng my KJ terrible. I have since regeared to 4:10s. You could probably get some wheel spacer/adapters for you JK wheels but I can almost promise you that you will have some nasty rubbing when you turn the wheel sharp. I think when you push the wheel out with spacers (like I did once) it messes up the steering geometry and makes the 32" tire rub more than it did without the spacers. I did a 2.5 inch lift and added some 32" tires on the stock wheels and I only had to do minor modification to the pinch weld. |

Yeah, you will get more rubbing with spacers or rims with less BS. I get rubbing with 245/70/16 tires on the moabs rims and Im lifted 3". Those tires fit on a stock liberty just fine. Given the rubbing is very minimal and Im never going to worry with it, I usually only hear it when backing up and turning to lock. Squeaks nice and loud in the rain too. |

Of course I have the ARB which helps some but I never rubbed at all with 255-70s, 245-75s, or 265-70s on Moabs , but now with the 265-75s I do have minor rub |

where does your rubbing occur Tom? on the ARB? or is it still on the liner? |
