Post subject:  sharp vibration driver side ???

Another problem with the liberty...

so last week I had to replace the CV (and later found out driveshaft too) on the passenger side, but after the dealership identified the problem 2 weeks ago I had a sharp vibration that I could feel at any speed (low and high). I thought it would go away after they fixed the Cv ,... it didnt.

I looked underneath the libby yesterday and I noticed the moron mechanic didn't put my skid plates back on [why did he need it to do an oil change is beyond me...] He didnt bolt the engine/transmission skids to the frame. so the engine and trans were connected but "floating" above the frame - 2 bolts which i thought would vibrate on the frame while moving... I droped the skids (and broke a bolt inside ... sigh, I love the dealership impacting things in...) and still got the vibration ... any other ideas what it can be? I would rather not have to take it to the dealership so they can make it worse... as the problem wasn't there before they "looked at it"

I doubt it is the tires as the problem only came after they looked at it. I am near certain the tires are balanced as there is no shake in the steering wheel (well no excessive shake compared to when they weren't balanced)

Thanks for any ideas...

Do you mean drive shaft or axle shaft? If they replaced your drive shaft then why? If they did you need to make sure it is balanced correctly and ALL of the bolts have a lock washer on them. They can come loose and cause vibrations. If they replaced your CV with a reman or used one, it might be defective. If they replaced your axle shaft also then ask them if they checked the bearings in there. If not that could be your problem. Also make sure they tightened all your bolts correctly.
