New liberty, no skids, looking to add these mopar skids. The first one I am going to order is the transmission skid: http://jparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=1472&osCsid=8bce52c138fd0c9545dcd0257ac3e9f1 It says here that the "front(engine)plate must also be installed." But i dont see an engine skid on their site. Are the referring to the front suspension skid? http://jparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=185&osCsid=8bce52c138fd0c9545dcd0257ac3e9f1 |

There are only 4 skids so that one has to be the front skid. |

cool thanks. Does anyone have an opinion on a diff cover versus a diff skid? What are the pros and cons of each? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna just go with a diff skid. But does anyone else have an opinion between one, the other, or both? |

I don't think I have seen a diff skid, are you talking about the front or rear? On the front, the front skid protects it. And I have only seen rear diff covers. |

Do share. They helped me stay away from MOPAR skids. |

Do you mean to tell me that you haven't read my story about how my MOPAR skid folded along a dirt road in MOAB causing all of my engine oil to bleed out leaving me stranded on the side of a mountain during a blizzard for hours while friends went into town to get me more oil and a replacement filter? Let me tell you that its no fun being stranded on the side of a mountain during a blizzard while your friends drive into MOAB to buy a filter and oil to replace what bled out when your MOPAR skid folded along a dirt road is not where you want to be. Cheap is expensive. |

I gotta ask. Why didn't you ride into town with your friends? |

Thanks for your story. Apparently it has sold at least one of my gas tank skids. |

I had to stay behind and try to clean up the mess and make sure my tranny pan was still holding fluid. I was also trying to straighten out the remains of the skid since I needed to put SOMETHING back on for the return trip. There were a lot of ledges between me and base camp. Boiler, if you make a better product then people should buy it. Cheap is expensive. |

This is the only diff skid I found. Sort of funky but it might save your rear end. http://www.turbocity.com/product_info.php?cPath=17_33&products_id=129&osCsid=f475073710bc478da1d3df2d6c37d431 |

Rusty's also sells diff skids. http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=rustys&Category_Code=DIF That's where I got the one I had on the Liberty. When I got the Wrangler, I opted for Rockcrusher covers instead. |

Never know what kind of clearance issues add on skids might have with your diff. I'd opt for a beefed up cover. Riddler, rock crusher, I believe there is some green one... |

You can not put a aftermarket diff cover on the front D30A in the KJ. |
