Again I'm not seeing much on these winches anyone know anything about them/running one? I'm looking a an XRC10 Comp with Synthetic rope http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/65.htm but am worried about reliability/toughness.

being slow is the only complaint I've heard or read about these. I don't physically own one though

got a smitty on the rollback, it's slow as molasses but it has no problem pulling it's weight, had the rollback tied off to a tree, hooked to one of the supports (that was footed in the ground with concrete) and it pulled the support right out of the ground, was either a 11,000 or 12,000 lb smit

we didn't like the cable it came with though but that's a pretty easy solution

i have the xrc10 and love it. has never let me down (except when i put the winch controller in upside down)... it's not slow from my experience and it has had more then enough guts to get me and others out of everything i've needed it for

I have a XRC8 (new style with series wound motor) and I can't even complain about it being slow. Runs almost as fast as any Warn I've used. It's never gotten hot even when pulling more than it was rated for, or when used multiple times in a day for fairly long pulls. I would recommend a good deep-cycle battery if you're going to be using it much.

I have the XRC8. I have used it a few times and have had no problems at all. The speed is fine.

The XRC8 and XRC10 are manufactured by T-Max, and are the same winch with different gear ratios. Other than the usual problems with the switches they seem to be pretty decent winches.
