Hey all,

When I bought my KJ(2003 Sport) the dealership shorted me a jack. Needless to say I was angry but wasn't much I could do about it considering I didn't notice for 3 months after purchase; and now I am in a different state. :x

I bought a good bottle jack a few months ago and yesterday it finally happened, I got my first flat on my front drivers side..

THE PROBLEM: When I bought my Jack I got one built for a taller truck (thinking I was going to have a lift done soon). SO, the Jack was too tall to put under the frame or chasis, it did however fit under where the LCA meets the chasis. Yes... the swing joint. So.. very carefully I jacked up my truck right there on the LCA-Chasis joint and it was scary. I was afraid the LCA would drop causing the Jack to slip out from the joint moving. I was also afraid the jack would pop out and hit me or something else terrible like it failing while the wheel was removed. But I didn't have much of a choice... so I did it and with the help of God everything turned out alright.

Then I realized I didnt know where a good jack point is for a Liberty if I get a Front Flat. I dont have an owners manual. Where are good Jack points for flats? :|

If you look at the "frame" rail towards the front of the Jeep, right behind the wheel well, you'll see a small notch in the pinch weld, about two inches long. That's your front jack point.

For the rear you should place your jack under the "frame" just in front of the control arm mount. You can also place a jack under the rear axle.

When you say "frame" in quotes like that, are you implying that i am using some noob terminology or something??

Haha, no! No implications.

I put the quotes around "frame" because the Liberty is a unibody (oops, sorry Jeep, I mean uniframe) vehicle, and as such does not have a true frame.

Missing jack and owners manual. The prior owner probably got them for some reason. You looked in the hidden slot above the glovebox where the manual goes I take it. Go online to jeep.com and under "owners" you will see where you can download a manual for your particular year jeep. Check junkyards for a OEM jack (or even an owners manual). You might get lucky.

When getting a used vehicle you need to check everything. A friend of mine once bought a used car from a dealer that was missing the spare and jack etc from it's storage area in the trunk. Lucally he discovered this right away when he got it home in the driveway and called the dealer and they replaced it all for him.

I use the front skid and rear axle for a jacking point with a floor jack. You might be also able to use those points with your jack.

Hope this helps.

jacks and manuals etc often are removed for detaling purposes and neglectfully not reinserted
