Would most TJ bumpers fit on a KJ with the proper bracket/attachment fabrication? Would most offroad fabrication shops be able to do this pretty easily? Are there any TJ bumpers that work better then others? |

TJ rear bumpers have the easiest bracket to modify to fit on the front. but any bumper for any vehicle if the width fits the front of the KJ could be modified or made to fit if you poured enough time money and effort into it. Any real 4x4 shop should be able to fabricate a bracket/mount for a TJ bumper. Hell, any REAL 4x4 shop could MAKE you a CUSTOM bumper. as far as which ones work better, if better is stronger, then check the thickness of the steel. I think some of the thicker ones are made by Warn, but they are very expensive when compared to stock bumpers which only cost about $50 new. |

As far as using a regular rear TJ bumper. After getting all the plastic off. It only took about 20 minutes to mount the TJ bumper. All I had to do was drill a few holes and bolt it on. |

Voodoo, Did you take a look at any JK bumpers front or rear to see how they would work? |

Hey man I got this on order.... http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/46.htm I hope it turns out I contacted SmittyBilt and it's 51" side to Side should fit the Libby Perfect, the same way as it looks on the JK according to my measurments. I like the Internal Winch placement and Height I think it will be Awesome..... Making brackets seems like 3 cases of Beer and 2 Weekends so it can actually be useful with The Winch on board. The best part is that it really isn't Huge $$$ to buy.

i agree with tjkj, but it is possible... mount inside the bumper and to the top, maybe the bottom of the bumper too! and if it doesn't work, you can sell it on ebay for a good price I bet. |

Th JK bumper is gusseted and braced throughout the bumper. The only way to attach it is from the bumpers 'arms' that mount to the side of the JK's frame. On the KJ, it doesn't do a very good job of sitting flush against the unibody front sub-frame, and to get the arms to mount up you must notch the sheet metal of the subframe near where the tow hooks are. all in all you have 4 bolts running through the thin metal of the subframe, I gave it a tug with a tow strap by hand, and it started to dimple the metal. Under load, IMO it would have ripped it right off through the sub-frame. A true fitting would require actual cutting, reinforcing with drilled 1/4" and gusseting the entire front end back together. Not that it is possible, just wasn't worth it to me at the time (still isn't). |

I'm sure I can make it Bolt up and be FULLY functional as a winch bumper. It just makes it more mine when it's finished lol. I wish I didn't have to work so much so I could actually get a wrench on it. As soon as I get my springs and top plates I'm taking vacation for a week, and when I get around to paying off the new tires and wheels I'm going to take another week off to play lol. |
