So we had quite the snow storm here in VA, needless to say I was using 4x4 off and on a lot.

I started to get stuck and threw it in to 4x4 while I was making a left-hand turn (oops, I had a brain absense). A very unhealthy sound came from under my KJ and now when I am in 4x4 I can hear a rattling. Sort of what a chain hoist sounds like when you are pulling on the chain. Not quite that loud though. The 4x4 feels like it still working though, I am still worried I broke something and it will explode some day when I need it most!!

Ideas? I have a friend who has a KJ and his 4x4 is audible too, is this normal?

my 2 cents
cheapest way to start .....change the fluid and look for metal flakes in the liquid..
If there is nothing there I dont know...
