i live in a house made into 4 aparments and all the little cars are parkn at the end of the driveway in fear of gettin stuck so no place for me to park half the time .And the drive way is a half circle and the other part has yet to be driven through since the snow. So with no place to park i hit 4lo and stomped it and went through the other side of the circle and got like a bus lenth and burried it up to the frame sucks man i just cant get through it i just dug for 1hr and had the wife drive while i pushed to get it back out man.not sure if a lift would have got me through or not.Well just thought id share . |

yeah it is about 20 to 24" of wet snow and under it is dirt and gravel... i opened my door and it was like even with the floor i had the tires dug into the dirt but the snow was all up on the frame so no good.Need something higher to go through to make a track then im good im sure. |

Congrats, you've just learned an important lesson about winter driving. Basically there's two ways to drive across deep snow. You can plow through it or crawl slowly on top of it. Even a lifted Liberty has limited ground clearance and if there's ice beneath the snow it compounds the problem. Aggressive tires, even studs won't help. I haven't tried driving my Liberty on top of the snow because it's pretty heavy and the tires aren't that wide. On the other hand I've driven my YJ on many snow runs on top of the snow. The YJ is pretty light and the tires are 12.5" wide and with the tires aired down to 6 lbs they act like snowshoes. Of course sometimes even my YJ gets stuck ![]() Thank god for the Warn The next time you try to drive through deep snow I suggest you do it slowly to ride on top of it or rock yourself forwards & backwards. It may take a foot at a time but you should make it. |
