hello, I have been lurking on this site for a while and found some great info but not an exact answer to this question. I am buying the full OME setup with springs\shocks\struts. Should i go for MED or HD springs? I have a 2004 Renegade with the full skid package but i dont plan on getting an aftermarket bumper...maybe just a pushbar. are the skids and pushbar enough to justify HD's or are they mostly for people who get the ARB bumpers? Thanks in advance, |

ive been riding the ome hd's on the front for about 15k with just skids on the front half it was very stiff during the break in, started cupping the tires very slightly during the first say.. 3k miles after that it settled down, i rotated front to rear at about 5k and didn't notice any cupping since, and the cupping wore even while on the rear my opinion falls that you'd be fine either way, if you want a more stiffer ride post-break in, go with the HD's if you want it slightly softer go with the MD's |

I've had my Frankenlift II with OME HD's all around for about 2 1/2 years now. I couldn't be happier. |

Yeah, when I order mine, they will definitely be the HD's. Nothing but good things about them. |

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and recommend the Medium Dutys, unless you are planning on getting a full on ARB bumper with winch, after market rear bumper with carrier and full armor underneath... I've had my Franky II Premium for a year and a half now and even with a full set of Mopar skids, Boulder bars, and 3 passengers, it's still just too stiff of a ride for me, on and off road.... |

I have my OME CRD frankenlift on for about a month (3000 miles) and the springs are very stiff, even being on the heavier CRD. I did go on a pretty rough 200 mile off road trip, and they seem a little better, but still stiff in my opinion. Perhaps that my change over time. I always hate bying aftermarket or online stuff for the following reasons 1)It is expesive trial and error 2)Reviews must be taken with a grain of salt (I find that people tend to defend thier purchases than critisize espescially when products are over $1000) 3) You almost never get to see aftermarket products in action or after long term ownership. With that being said, i am satisfied with my Frankenlift BUT if i had to do it over again, i would have built up the kit on my own. The Heavy duty springs in my opinion borderline for what i prefer. I drive my jeep every day and i also go on long 4x4 trails loaded down with camping equipment. Off road I have warmed up to the HD spings, on road they are harsh. The rear springs seem just fine (believe there are only medium OME springs for the rear (according to ARB). As for the shocks and struts. I have the OME struts and rear shocks that came with the frankenlift. I purchased the assembled kit since i did not have easy access to a spring compressor, or time to order one and mess with it. Hind sight is always 20/20. There are plenty of people that have ordered various types of spring compressors and have had sucsess. With that, i would have taken the time and assembled everything myself, WHICH would have given me more options for the kit. I am sure some poeple may disagree with me but i would personally not install OME shocks or struts. I wish i would have built the lift kit with Bilstein Shocks and struts. With the amount of money you are going to put in to do a lift just get high quality it is not that more expesive. If i would have assmebled the kit myself, i could have used Bilstein and been cheaper than the assembled kit. So in the end I would go with OME springs Front - (hd with winch bumper, medium without) and Rear medium. I would use the Bilstein struts front and Bilstein shocks rear. If you needed to tweak the height a little here and there, just use daystar spacers, they are available in different thickness. |

I partly agree with the above response but have to disagree with a lot of it. I agree with not using OME Shocks they are TOO weak IMO. The Rancho RSXs were way much better valved for our use. As far as long term results I had 100,000 miles on the first set of OME HDs and Ranchos, how much more results do you need? many have thousands of miles on their setups. HDs are a must i think for the rear if you are going to haul anything or tow a trailer. I and many others do not defend their purchase just due to buying a certain product but rather due to it working great. I could go on but look at what people use everyday, yes with 136,000 on mine I use it everyday. |
