Does anyone have the JBA 4" lift? Wondering how they liked it. And what size tire would fit and if it would hold up to a ARB bumper? |

I can put that size tire with the OME lift. I wish I lived closer to you. Not that mechanically inclined to put a lift on.

going bigger than 265/75/16 on the D30A frontend is a reliability concern and a gearing problem. Tokyojoe has the 4" lift - it looks good there was a post about trying to get the CV's trimmed - it became a major issue - so buying the kit with the CV's is a good idea. |

you can go that high pretty much with Frankenlift / or OMEs with extras. But with the gearing we have available, the weak D30a etc you don't really want to go bigger anyways |

I think I will stick with my original plan and go for the OME lift. I want to put on 265/70/16.

Love the look but if I had to do it over again......... |

At that point he had just the Frankenlift on, I had just replaced mine with new rear 948s and two extra top isolators Of course also I have 265-75s and he has 245-75s so some difference BUT YES I WAS (AND AM) TALLER

Love the look but if I had to do it over again......... Why? Yeah I (the KK owner) have wondered over to the KJ area for help. On one with 265/75r16 over in the KK section. Got one with 33's but he re-geared before the tires. Are the KJ gearing the same? I have the auto 3.73. Just got the 4" JBA lift and wanted 32's but seems like people say I will loose WAY to much power and won't like it. And to re-gear. Re-gearing I found out is very labor costing $825 quoted today by ORU plus gears which are ?? So my question I tow about 4-7 times in the summer about 2200# from LA area to Laughlin up some nice climbs. I did it once so far stock and it was last year but think I remember only one hill out of Needles, CA on hwy 40 I was stuck at 55-60 mph. So with 265/75r16 how much power will i loose? I take it power loss is from the height not width as 235/85r16 won't be better. Well I thought a boat was a hole that you just thru water into, but seems like my 4x4 is a big boat! I could go 245/75r16 but and not re-gear nor need a tire gate also $700 for that. Thanks for any input my KJ friends. |

E2 wrote: Why? Taller Tire = more weight Taller Tire = more power loss 4” Lift = more wind resistance Add those up and you will see a big loss in power and a significant drop in fuel economy. Gearing is one method to help compensate for the taller tire. Without adequate gears, your Jeep will be down-shifting a lot which will be hard on the transmission. It might seem expensive, but you wont fully enjoy your Jeep if you don’t do it. |
