Just like the topic heading... I know the yota guys have been doing this for years... what are you getting when you get "machined" CV's?

Also, has anyone kept the IFS and "upgraded" the front diff?

Would an ARB diff cover help strengthen the front differential?

Are locking hubs available for KJ's? (without a SFA conversion?)

Thanks.
Mark

---No,well the original Jeepin By Al sorta did by welding on extra aluminum to the D30A

Would an ARB diff cover help strengthen the front differential?

---Can't use a aftermarket front diff cover, the front diff mount would interfere plus you would have no breather with a aftermarket cover

Are locking hubs available for KJ's? (without a SFA conversion?)

---No

Thanks for the answer TJKJ :)

I'm still on the fence about whether to go SFA on my libby, and get something else as a DD, or if I want to get a JK rubi in a year or two and in the meantime make the libby as bulletproof as I can... with 121K miles on my liberty I am leaning towards making her more bulletproof, and saving for the rubi... I have plenty of preventive maintenance to do on my libby at this point in time, so it only makes sense to upgrade as I go along :D

Oh yeah, we just had a baby girl. My wife and I have 2 boys, and she was so convinced we were going to have another boy that she told me that I could spend $1,000 on whatever if it was a girl... Can we say "Rear ARB locker"? LOL.

Congratulations on the baby girl and the $1,000 dollars that came with her. I would beef up the IFS Liberty and save up for a Rubicon. The Liberty is a very capable off-road rig with a 3” lift, ARB front and rear lockers, sliders, front bumper and winch, and rear bumper. The Wrangler can become your true SFA Jeep.

Thanks diesel!

My ultimate rig would be a Diesel JK... with a manual transmission...

In the mean time you are pretty much correct on what I am planning on doing with my KJ.

For now I'm going to stick with the 2.5" Daystar lift I installed, and work on getting traction, recovery and better approach angles... then I will worry about getting the suspension dialed in for better articulation.. the trails I ride on the clearance has been more of an issue than straightup flex. If I can do all of the above my December 2011 then I will be finished paying off my liberty ad ready to pick up a used rubi :D

My newest pride and joy:

3 out of my 4 kids... I don't get to see my daughter for another week... the boys are HUGE jeep fans :) The hit the trails with me every time I go :D
