OK... I see a lot of talk of driveline angles. This has me curious and thinking of ways around that.

1) Why don't we use a Y-link adapter/extension that is adjustable to angle the rear diff?

or

2) Adjustable lower control arms along with Y-link to adjust angle?

I know the rear axle gets moved forward an inch if not more during a lift. The LCA's would move the axle back to center of wheel well IF you used a longer aftermarket set. Would this cause any issues since you would technically need a longer rear drive shaft to make up the difference?

I know there is a LOT of different questions in here. I am hoping Tom, Troy, Tony, Digger... uhmm... ANYONE with lift experience can entertain me with some answers. I know I'm relatively new here and sometimes getting answers is like herding cats... but... I appreciate the assistance!

Tom Woods has some good tech articles
http://www.4xshaft.com/index.html

for u joints the ends of the drive shaft yokes, have to be parallel.
if you want to angle the driveshaft you need a double cardigan joint on one end.

JeepinAl has a spacer for the Y link and extenders
unless you want more lift than you can get of of the IFS you probably don't need it.

I thought we already went through this before?
Or am I dreaming again?

My thing is for the amount of lift we can do ( 3 to 4 inches) without going into a lot of other things then it works. I still have my stock upper tri link with over 100,000 lifted
If it's not broke why fix it

Now if you go 6 inches (and beyond) yes but that's a whole new ball game with a new pitcher!

Tom,

Yeah, we did discuss this. I was looking at reasons as to why... I understand that because we are limited in the amount of lift, this is really not needed. It makes sense now. I appreciate it.

When you get over 4" of lift is when the rear driveshaft angle becomes a issue along with the length of the driveshaft.Going SFA it's real important since you now have to worry about the front driveshaft also.
