I was told that a DTT would actually help the front diff in the strength department. Last night a friend of mine left pieces of his d30a all over the woods. I really don't want to go through that. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

depends on how you look at it. A locker by itself will not really add strength but what it does it keeps it from spinning so much (if used correctly). The problem comes when you have the power to it, the front is spinning and /or bouncing and the spinning tire grabs hold, then POW! A locker will allow you to drive through and/ or over an object easier and not spin ( as much)

Thats a good question. I can tell you that the carrier that both a Detroit and an ARB have are much stronger than stock. Add the ability to OPEN an ARB and you are strengthening your front end.

Like what Tom said a locker or DTT will not strengthen the front diff, though if used correctly will help prevent the "shock load" that has been blowing up the D30A's,basically when that one spinning tire that is in the air(open diff) comes back down and grabs traction it causes a shock load which makes the pinion want to "walk" on the ring gear which cracks the diff housing.

I wheeled the snot out of my KJ with the DTT up front(and new how to use it) since my KJ rarely seemed to have all 4 wheels on the ground on the trail and zero issues with the diff.Oh and no collar either,my left outer CV joint didn't far very well but my front diff kept on trucking.

Steering me back to the DTT that makes total sense cause unless both front wheels are spinning when it grabs traction nothing should happen.

Thanks TJKJ

Now you can still blow a D30A with the DTT,it has been done already, but if you know how to use the DTT you will not have a issue.Just a little steady pressure on the brake pedal helps "fool" the DTT into "locking",also keeps your speed down for those obsticals which also helps.
